yet the nicest e36s are still 10k+ less than the nicest type R's. | I believe the reason that the E36 M3 is likely to go down in history as the least collectible M3 ever, is all about differentiation. The E30 M3 was a widebody with a high revving motor totally unlike anything in the non M cars. The E46 M3 has distinctive flares with a motor that revs to 8000rpm. On the other hand, the E36 M3 is basically indistinguishable from a base E36 coupe unless you know what to look for, the motor is identical to a 328i save an extra 40hp and a few ft-lbs of torque, and the suspension is virtually identical.
As to the E36 vs the ITR values... that's an easy one, simple supply and demand. USDM ITR production I believe is around 3800. On the other hand, there were almost 20,000 E36 M3 coupes alone sold plus a probably another 13,000 sedans and convertibles.
I love the E36, I think it's an incredible chassis for the time and a very rewarding car to drive, but I don't think it's ever going to have the rarity that some of the other M cars do. But that's just my opinion.

Asked him about maintenance receipts, he said I do not have receipts for the maintenance done as all of it post-purchase was done by me.
Asked him for pics and amount of accident damage Unfortunately I do not have any pictures, but the previous owner said that the damage was minor as only the bumpers were affected. The rest of the car is stock.
He said that the accident occurred in 2008 and 2010.
Asked him if he did a carproof prior to purchasing the car, he said The CarFax showed clean.
And the kicker, asked him for a ballpark range so we can work something out, he said At this point in time, I'm not sure if I really want to sell it, as it is such a great car To drive. Depending on what your budget is, is consider selling it.
Let me know what your budget is, as I do not want to waste either of our time. | For the record, I offered him $23,000 pending to let me see the car first (since he had no pictures),test drive, inspection, carproof etc. He said Hi,
For that price, I'll just keep it. Thanks for the interest.
Like WTF man? Market for S2k is like the vancouver housing market, shits ridiculous

Not too familiar with these but given its rarity, could potentially be a good buy with minor TLC? https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/bnc/cto/5536618453.html

^ Wow, never seen one. Given it's rarity it would be a pretty cool project car for the BMW fanatic. Very odd but some cool ones on google search
