You think a vehicle that starts having problems with under 100k on the clock is "reliable"?

Z3guy 05-18-2016 11:02 AM

^ I am not sure what you have been driving, but yes. Tell me a car other than a Corolla that does not have common problems with less than 100K kms?

swfk 05-18-2016 12:30 PM

I don't want to discuss this Euro reliability stuff for cars over 80k kms :derp:

$4000 would you be ok with a rebuilt title? Of course, given the repairs are proper and minimal.

^ durability and reliability are two different things. Reliability to me is that your car does not leave you stranded on the side of the road and you don't have to go in for unscheduled services. I guess 100k+ kms BMW never do that! lol!!!

The BMWs you quoted are actually quite reliable up to 100k kms, but not very durable due to sub frame tearing, vanos issues, SMG pump failures, oil leaks, power steering rack leaks (e30 m3). My point is every car has common problems except Corollas and Camrys....

Pretty much anything from Japan? Aside from a few exceptions, and even then most of them still make it past 100k before the problems occur. This is only a guess but I'm guessing most Korean offerings are more reliable than ze Germans as well.

2016 Porsche Cayman for $115,000 in PICTON | autoTRADER.ca

Assuming that the price is not in USD, this is probably below MSRP.

High mileage, seems like an alright deal given its condition? Might be worth a look.

Or was it only the W220/C215 era that was absolute shite?
