Full disclosure this is a friend of mine's car and I don't know how the price compares to similar subies but FWIW he's a character guy who takes very good care of his car. I've carpooled with him to hockey many times and he does baby it in my experience.

I can vouch for the seller so if this car is in your budget and something you're interested in, it's worth a serious look.

my bad. i was too focused on the mileage

westopher 07-05-2016 07:45 PM

I just saw the car at the gas station by my house. It does look in nice shape up close.

2001 Mazda Miata MX5 LOW KM

Not sure if it comes with ABS or not. If it does it's a good solid price for the mileage. NBs with ABS, A/C, and LSDs are really hard to find.

I definitely considered this but I had to step away due to the mileage...

Anybody know the going rate for an engine rebuild or exact swap for these EJ25's?

My biggest concern for the EJ25 would be that it hasn't had a head gasket issue... yet. Once thats done, it's like a reset button on the engine. Mines at over 280k and have seen some well over 350k+.

Would you say this is a fair price considering the mileage and the fact the gaskets haven't been done ($1100-1400 job)?

ugh, I keep seeing all these miatas on this thread.

I really want a miata now...must resist.

flagella 07-06-2016 07:48 AM

300k km is tough to swallow.

jing 07-06-2016 08:23 AM

That's my old Miata. It is rusty and the frame rails are quite banged up. Worth nowhere near their asking price.

thumper 07-06-2016 09:17 AM

someone still looking for a 2.5 RS? not sure what this is worth. mileage is high. looks like black duct tape holding the passenger mirror together. can't see rust, but it does say winter driven and the seller couldn't even be bothered to at least clean it before taking pics. no mention of maintenance history... says "no major accidents" which may or may not be good...

Traum 07-06-2016 09:45 AM

^^ I see a rough patch in the typical rear quarter panel on the driver side -- it looks to be a decent size, and my first guess would be some obvious bubbling / rust build up.

Passenger mirror is definitely held in place by massive duct tape.

But them Sparco wheel doe~!

^ I hope they are using the solid rear axle for fitting purposes only:okay:

:lol

That's a nice way of saying "The grown ups are talking now, so hush".

Sadly, the days of that car turning are over. It's going to need that solid axle to put any power down. Remember back when Jason00S2000 had his supercharged S2k? His biggest issue was blowing Honda independent rear ends. They're just not built to put down any real power.
