You can verify where a car has been registered through car proof/car fax. If you have that kind of mentality why ever buy a car at all.

It's funny, it wasn't just 4 years ago in Ottawa, a friend of mine had a red 5 speed 850R wagon. Blew the head gasket, had it repaired and sold it for $3000. Mind you it had 300,000km. I still think it was a steal.

Something's weird about that. They dump the cars after 165,000kms as a general rule. To me that says something had to of been majorly wrong to dump it at 120,000kms.

68style 08-13-2014 10:27 PM

165,000kms or 10 years for non-operational (this one)... 7 years for operational... the regular patrol cars hit that in less than 2 years time... this car was definitely an admin vehicle of some sort as it indicates.

Something was wrong with this one that wasn't worth fixing or else they wouldn't have auctioned it off. That said, it must be fixed now.

Gazorcoop 08-16-2014 11:20 AM

^^seller was Craigslist scum..I made every effort to arrange a viewing ASAP (saw the ad minutes within posting) and he said earliest available time was this afternoon. Made sure he knew I was genuinely interested and I text him at the tick of noon to find out its sold.

Edit: to make it clear, I was annoyed at the fact that we had agreed to meet and it was pretty much a done deal. I did ask him if there was anyone else interested or any showings prior, which is why I was under the impression I would be the first to see it before earlier today.

Then again, maybe someone offered him 3k over the phone and he couldn't refuse. All in the past now..lets keep hunting.

Ronin 08-16-2014 11:32 AM

Maybe you weren't the first person to contact him.

Zordon 08-16-2014 11:55 AM

Good deals get snatched up quick. You gotta be willing to go at a moment's notice.

tofu1413 08-16-2014 12:19 PM

first come first serve. can't blame the seller
