Well, it's JDM so that licks balls... and the first line says it's a "feeler" ad so he's obviously trying to gauge interest and start a bidding war.

jasonturbo 11-24-2016 09:17 PM

Good luck with bidding war on a RHD Supra.

Toyota Supra MKIV : MKIV Specifications

Nice looking car but no collector value. I didn't realize they sold 31,000 in Japan and 11,000 in the USA

40k+/yr in Ontario = it's fucked. Although on the certification front I don't think any manufacturer would certify a vehicle with an odometer that high.

thumper 11-25-2016 07:34 AM

oh... bmw certification. i mistakenly thought it was referring to gov't safety certification :o

But that is the basic premise on Craigslist / private purchase anyways...

True. But when its coming from a Dealership, that has access to at-cost parts and basically "free labour"... It's really telling that they did the cost benefit analysis and found it better to dump it.

Theres no such thing as free labor.

The tech has to get paid even to look at the car briefly.

Im guessing the car wasnt worth spending money on for recon, and profit margin would be next to none, so the dealer manager decided to "wholesale to public" kind of deal, maybe for someone that could use a cheap car and don't mind spending a few bucks to fix it to make it driveable.

as for the CEL, it could be a sign of something major.......... or maybe just a bad gas cap. won't know till you put a scanner to it.

still, $6k ish for a 2011 128i...... good beater to run into a ground. Better to get into a wreck in one of those than per say, a $5000 early 2000's Honda Accord.... just sayin

westopher 11-25-2016 11:45 PM

The 128 still looks in great shape cosmetically. Spend 25k on suspension, wheels and an s65 swap and be king of the universe for around 30k.

And then it snaps in half from all the hidden rust in an Ontario car with mileage that high.

tofu1413 11-26-2016 01:03 PM

BMWs tend to have pretty decently galvanized shells, so it'll unlikely rust. sealed undersides. better protected than most japanese cars. lots of plastic on the undersides.

and also, good news! according to BMW website.

That seems like a really good deal in the current market? I would have instantly assumed fake if it wasn't a dealer, still seems like there has to be a catch.

I'm hoping there's a catch, I really don't want to be trigger happy with this one

punkwax 11-27-2016 07:25 PM

Gotta be a catch. Please say there's a catch.
