the VX also had a different engine for efficiency(1.5L VTEC).
i sold my 93 civic si hatch for 2k in 2004. i think if it was today, i would be able to sell it for more.

Interesting, I thought all ZHP's had red gauge needles. That was the easy way to spot them apart from an E46 with the M appearance package. Quote:

And if memory is correct, when cruising it actually runs lean in order to use even less fuel

Despite how good the VX in terms of fuel economy is on paper, the sluggishness associated with it makes it more or less a pain to drive. Once the car runs lean there's next to no power and the throttle response is very weak. On hills it has an extremely rough time getting up, requiring it to be in 2nd or 3rd gear. On hills your really have to floor the pedal, and sadly that negates the mpg savings.
I also own an EG Si. My average tank is around 36-40mpg, and the VX was 43 tops in normal city driving. I prefer the Si over the VX for city driving, the added power really goes a long way esp on inclines. If I put the VX 13" wheels on the Si, I'm sure the MPG would almost match. Most people who claim the VX gets 50mpg-60mpg are those who do more highway driving than city driving.

I thought the point of the VX in the eyes of an enthusiast was that it had the lightest body and a vtec harness. It would make it the best candidate for swaps.

IMO, VX's are only good for hyper-miler's, in bone stock form. The second you mod it (aside from additional, ugly, aero), it loses its edge. Otherwise, it's pretty gutless, has a bunch of one-off parts and usually has a ton of mileage.
Any EG hatch is going to be cheap enough to run. I'd rather have a few more HP and not pay the VX premium.

VX and CX are nice because no door mouldings... VX VTEC makes no power, it's for fuel economy.
I would prefer an EG SI hatch for the superior door panel upholstery and power windows and sunroof
The extra wires needed (spool solenoid, pressure switch and knock) are easy to add, and all 1992 came pre wired for vtec on the chassis side. Never mind you can eliminate the need for all of the wires with the exception of the pressure switch assuming you're running hondata.
I still watch for a clean EG to pop up for sale, I love those cars.

Lol, why is this even a discussion. No one is saying it's amazing. No one is saying it's the best civic ever made. It's just a cool unique civic from the past.
Move on

Move on | Maybe it's an RS thing. RS ers discuss civic just as in depth as human evolution.

It also didn't have the power boost and hotter cams the ZHP had.

2000 BMW M5
Not sure this qualifies as a "good buy" but it does look pretty minty. For the condition I think this is a solid price.

Seems like a fairly priced EL with a GsR swap, kosei wheels and wilwood brakes.
Tempted to pick it up. https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/bnc/cto/5906830058.html |
