Thanks for all the input on the B series!

tofu1413 01-22-2017 05:22 PM

Sold 3 at my dealer. All 3 blew their transmission within 2 months.

1 had a sunroof issue. The cassette was $7000.

Cheaply built. Expensive to repair. Way better off with a c class or if hatchback that size is your thing, Toyota Matrix / Pontiac Vibe.

Ouch. Did BJBMW provide some sort of a warranty? I'm guessing that's how you know..

tofu1413 01-22-2017 05:52 PM

Yes we did. Two of the cars, customers bought warranty fortunately.

The 1 that did crap itself we took care of it within our 90 day goodwill policy.

We really don't like those cars. :heckno:

!Aznboi128 01-22-2017 06:31 PM

Ooooo 90 day good will policy.

Time to buy the most unreliable car. It's only a small gamble lol

snowfarmer 01-22-2017 07:28 PM

What's the most unreliable car you have on the lot that I could realistically resell within 90 days without too much of a loss?? :lawl:

This ... it was a 2006, listed for something like $6K-$6500, I forgot the exact price.

Surprised to see others around $7K-$8K on CL.

Is this a problematic generation?

E90 in general has less trouble spots than E46, but is harder to work on since it requires more specialty tools. No control arm bushing issue, subframe, plastic cooling system.

The N54 engine in early 335 is an exception. Initial High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) issues, carbon buildup issues, and at higher mileage, the turbos seem to like to go. They are more popular for tuning since they have forged bottom end and 2 turbos.

I believe that white is a pearl, which would make a repaint more difficult.
Honda bumpers also have the VIN tag on them, so the next buyer would know they've been replaced.

Most concerning is that I don't see that the axles have been replaced. It's a common failure, and I believe it's close to a grand for each side on the 6MT cars as quoted by Lougheed.

whitev70r 01-23-2017 07:32 PM

I'm really surprised how cheap these go for:

2006, BMW 330i, 4 Dr, 167K, 18" Schnitzer rims, auto, $6800 OBO

bcuzracecarz 01-23-2017 07:42 PM

Indeed they are. Some of the major maintenance items require a partial engine removal. Still love em tho, so pretty

Yes, Nogaro blue on blue b6 s4 6spd is my fav s4 of all. (I like the wagons more tbh)
Timing guide/ Timing job is required at around 150k. The entire motor needs to get dropped because the chains are in the back of the engine. Audi originally designed this way thinking the timing guide will be lifetime. On demand labor hr was like 23hrs or something and thats not including parts

If anyone is in the market for these B6/B7 s4's.. stay FAR away from the ones that make ticking sounds from the engine
Fav car I'd never own.. wut
