This week we have a Celica GTS wagon 7-speed manual :ahwow: with 187000kms. This one doesn't come with Altezza tailights and tinted windows. $3450 is more than the Corolla I posted weeks ago, but at least the seller has more information posted to justify the price.

It's clearly a typo.

The blue XRS is missing the front lip. A good price regardless. I have a 4AT that I was using a work beater and the gearing is terrible as it really opens up past the 6k rpm. A 6MT would've been a much better choice.

vitaminG 01-24-2017 01:56 PM

dont think its a typo since hes got another ad with "7 speed manual in the title". hes probably including reverse for some reason.

thats said i was actually looking at getting a matrix xrs as a commuter. anyone have any input?

Compared to my EP3 or even just a regular CIVIC. it doesnt feel like it has 170hp. it feels like a marshmallow when driving it. that is just my 2 cents

I traded my work car (2014 Focus hatch) for 9k to nissan few months ago. it had 48kms. it was a really crappy car.

BIC_BAWS 01-24-2017 09:29 PM

Sry for double post, but clean car and low kms and rare does that count LOL

I know one of my retired co workers who has one for sale, but not sure if he still has it.

2009 model with 9000km on it, asking $8500.

That's a ridiculously amount of kms... just over 1000km per year

StanleyR 01-25-2017 06:40 AM

Yeah, even in top running shape(good motor mounts), they are pretty harsh to drive.
I regularly use ear plugs when driving my stock 07 Focus on the highway. Makes the drive OK.

Only reason why I keep the thing is to remind myself I'm debt free and I have a BMW and a sportbike when the weather and roads get nicer.

Here's my contribution to the thread today
Not sure of the mileage tho...just posted:

We've got an 05 XR auto and it's a great DD, the missus has been driving it for the past few years and she loves it. Tons of space, great on gas, parts are cheap since the same driveline is used in tons of cars, enough power to cross the Coq without problems but you're not going to be setting any speed records. They're quite light and have Celica suspension so they handle well. They're very reliable cars (I think the most common issue is the clock on the dash dying) however if I remember right the 03-04 models were slightly more prone to faults (first years of a new model so no surprise) so try to find an 05-09, unless you really want a cable throttle instead of drive-by-wire. Oh and the high beams are amazing, even with normal bulbs.

Some things to watch out for that I noticed when we were looking for hers: there seem to be a lot of rebuilts around, it seems like nearly half of them have manual windows, and I think if it was ordered with any TRD part (spoiler, muffler tip, etc) they took the trim badge off and put a TRD one on. TRD isn't a trim level so it makes it tricky to determine what it really is (base/XR/XRS), from memory the base models don't have the black trim between the front and rear windows.

What makes you want an XRS over an XR? The 1ZZ has a better power curve in the mid range than the 2ZZ does, so unless you're hanging out near the redline a lot a 1ZZ is going to be quicker.
