especially the 99-00 ones with the rear locker, i'd still take one of those over my 4th gen

I'd rank the Tacoma above the 4Runner for resale value. Some of the ones up for sale on Craigslist or Autotrader are asking insane prices!

fliptuner 03-03-2017 05:39 PM

For 1st gen Tacos (same as 3rd gen 4Runners), I'd say the only ones that retain a high resale are the 4x4 double cabs.

!Aznboi128 03-03-2017 05:50 PM

With these prices, I'll never be able to get a 4Runner lol. Been trying to find a Pathfinder instead but the VQ is a hit/miss

underscore 03-03-2017 06:59 PM

I had to go with my Jeep instead of the equivalent 4Runner because I was able to get this Jeep for half the price.

320icar 03-03-2017 07:04 PM

^^ early 90's Cherokee don't drive or feel nearly as nice as a 4Runner. But if you're looking for a cheap trail rig them I'd for sure go Cherokee. Everything is cheaper, but reliability won't be as good. Both extremely capable

Old Cherokees are half the price for a good reason.

JHatta 03-03-2017 08:06 PM

6spd 2nd gen Xterra OR editions are a great substitute for 4runners...thirsty beasts though.

XJ Cherokees are very reliable, maybe not to the same extreme as the 4Runner but still miles ahead of most other vehicles. If I was going to build a dedicated offroader I'd grab another one in a heartbeat (I still miss my old 2000).

The gas engined ones can be found down at 1/3 the price, but as you said for good reason. The 4.7 and 5.7 are junk, the 3.7 is gutless. That's why I went with the 3.0 diesel, I wouldn't have bought one otherwise. That and the previous owner's mechanics were idiots so I got an extremely good deal on it.

I saw one of these on the road a few days ago and completely forgot they existed... For the first time in a long time I can say it was love at first sight.

https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/pml/cto/6016901813.html

How are these CL's? They have air suspension, but I wonder if there is a coilover conversion available...

I have been saving up for another 80's 560SEC, I just love Big Merc Coupes. I feel that this would be a more reasonable (in relation to a 80's S class) car to own since parts are going to be way more available, and it's "new".

bcuzracecarz 03-04-2017 10:42 AM

The fake ad tactic has been overused so many times lately it almost favours the seller now lol "Go buy that one then, oh? You want mine more? Price is now firm for wasting my time"

They have hydraulic active body control. Not practical to convert

$2K for a 2006 BMW 323i with a bad motor. 6 speed with Sport package. How much to put in a proper motor - say the 3L version?
