Weird. Whoever modded this has their priorities straight. Michelin pilot sports (now bald af) + BBK. Looks super clean, hopefully it checks out for someone here.

phone number comes up as a used car lot:

Goldline Motors Inc | Used dealership in Vancouver, BC V5T 1V4

this reads to me like a car that was previously modded and the previous owner parted out or traded for as many stock parts as they could but wasn't able to pull the brakes off before trading it in?

I imported this car myself last summer with the intent to use it as a fun and economical commuter since I have always wanted one, but as it turns out these cars are not meant for people over 6'2" tall. My back can't handle a car this tiny anymore. It's got an aftermarket intake and exhaust, body kit, and a lot of JDM 'rice' as you can see. The engine and drivetrain share components from the tercel/paseo so parts are very cheap to keep it running. Even for the high mileage it runs perfectly like a toyota should.

I have all of the documentation for it, however I have not put it through a provincial inspection yet so it is being sold as-is, where-is, for the price of what I have spent on buying the car and getting it here and through customs thus far. You will be able to put a 1 day permit on it to get it home, though.

This car can also go to the USA legally if you wish.

Was thinking same, but doesn't really make sense he would leave one of the more valuable and easy to remove mods. Lot of people got replacement brakes on the early g35 cause the stock brembos had issues

If you're in the market for something functional with a bit of luxury, and safety, this is a good buy. Poster could use a lesson on picture taking but ...

2004 CLK55
https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/van/cto/6033611988.html

Question: is this the poor mans entry into the world of handbuilt german v8's? These things sounds incredible with some exhaust work.

Is this a situation of 100k$ car maintenance costs? What is a (not really very) high milage AMG like to live with?

These AMG's such as the CLK 55 are pretty easy to maintain and are reliable cars for sure - if they have been cared for in the past. They don't have any fancy suspension gimmicks and the engine is very low tech so there is not much that can go wrong.

The Producer 03-07-2017 09:43 AM

^^ i was hoping you'd respond - 7 minutes! must be a AMG bat-signal.

I'm not usually super car impulsive, but I'm really tempted to go take a look at this one.

Any specific shop recommendations for inspections? I have my go-to's for german cars work, but would be down with somebody more specific for this type of detailed look over.

i want this!

i knew someone who has that generation of CLK (i'm not sure it's a 2004). leased it for his wife and they've had it since new. he claims having zero problems, and showed me all his dealer service paperwork to dispel my disbelief. they liked it so much they even bought out the lease when it ended and they still have it afaik...

I hear Norwescan in Burnaby is good with AMG's.

tofu1413 03-07-2017 09:53 AM

pretty sure may have the oil leak here and there but heard those old 5.4' 3 valve head/ twin spark motors are pretty well engineered. should be pretty solid cars.

ex has a CLK and seems to be pretty problem free.

Oshiguru 03-07-2017 10:21 AM

I wanted that e36 but then I googled the image I found:
https://www.gumtree.com/p/bmw/bmw-31...ift/1197178193

edit the silver evo looks like the one that was stolen a few months back. Was a "bc" car

TopsyCrett 03-07-2017 10:41 AM

Always wondered if CLK's had complicated suspension. Good to know. Does the E Class of this gen Mercedes have air suspension?

Yes, the E Class from 2003-2009 has got air suspension on higher end models (e500, e550, e55, e63). If it happens to leak, Arnott struts offer a great warranty and aren't too expensive. Alternately, there are plenty of kits out there to convert to coils. The E55 has a pretty big modding community so its not hard to find remedies for these problems.

Debadged trunks always make me iffy. Makes me think it got rear ended and body guy was either too lazy to reinstall it or lack of funds for repair that they didn't even get the replacement badge

Love these, quicker than the 40k equivalent German rival (M3), sound amazing, reliable engine, cheap to repair and cost as much to fill up as my 2.5L Jetta daily.

Dude, you realize that's only because your 2.5L I4 has the fuel efficiency of a V8 (but the power of an I4), right? :troll:
