Spoiler!
.

The MKIV is a pretty big car. Imagine at the time just how much heavier it was compared to the civics and RX7, etc.

I had to google it, but Edmonds says the Supra's curb weight was 2800lbs?!
Compared to a 2016 STi at 3402 lb, goes to show that cars have gotten girthy!

2006 Lexus IS350 - Fully Loaded - Silver on Blk - PRICE DROP - $10000 (Burnaby)

Seems like a good price despite the KM. Anyone checked it out?

Nice find, but 212k km scares me. Even with Toyota's legendary reliability.

I'm sure that's mostly because of all the safety equipment that has to go into all modern cars nowadays. Obese slugs.

Jmac 03-10-2017 11:27 AM

The MkIV Supra's curb weight is around 3300-3500 lbs, give or take depending on engine, transmission, and roof (hardtop vs. targa)

2800 lbs was the first gen's curb weight

Miles of wiring and tablets in the dash.
Back in my day we had to get the internet via newspaper!

Thanks for the clarification.
I remember the MKIV being over 1500kg, which was one of it's downfalls. That said, a bhp of 320 really helped. Plus BPU helping to make 400whp a reality for many Supra owners.

I still love the MKIV, and would love to have a clean, BPU 6 speed in my garage. Preferably in black ;)

Anything that isn't a tin can is fairly heavy, Toyotas are usually a lot heavier than Hondas.

They're still pretty stupid. I'm curious what's gonna be next though.

That S2000 cry baby has too much time on his hands. So many fake ads and rants on CL.

Would like to do BPU to mine to have 400 BHP. Jspec = double de-cat pipes w/restrictor ring, aftermarket exhaust, Walbro or USDM fuel pump, fuel cut defender and colder spark plugs.

BPU (Basic Performance Upgrade))

vitaminG 03-10-2017 06:06 PM

From what I recall there was a massive weight savings campaign for the mark iv supra. I Remeber reading about the single exhaust and hollow carpet fibers

open the CL ad, right click on the image and select "search Google for image"

Bam, super quick and easy way to figure out most of the fake ads.

That's the one nice thing about autotrader, you know the ad isn't fake cause you have to pay for it.

I miss buysell and autotrader, I seem to recall way less stupid people on them.

Ummm ... Autotrader is free to post. Sorry to disappoint. I've seen very fake ads on Autotrader.

TouringTeg 03-11-2017 12:38 PM

True autotrader is free. They should charge a nominal amoumt to eliminate the majority of fake ads.

Yup, most definitely fake ads on there as well

punkwax 03-11-2017 12:50 PM

I remember the good old days of waiting for the new autotrader to hit the stands and getting it nice and early in the morning to improve your odds of being first to call on something FSBO.
