Seems like the 08-10 wrx market is dead, everyone wants the 11-14 widebody wrx

Also that CR seems aite, two sets of wheels, hard top, and a bunch of other accessories. Probably set the price high at 40k to sell at mid 30s after nego?

Plenty of fake S2K on CL but maybe that one is real since it shows a BC plate? Maybe you guys recognize the location. Or perhaps the pics are stolen.

I can't think of many cars that have increased in value so quickly after release. Limited production sports cars such as 1M, S2000 CR and 911R all fit the bill.

They haven't really increased in value. Just not dropped much. I don't think that car is very indicative of the market. Its a car with like 40k thrown at it that the owner is grasping to recoup.
Nothing fits in the category of a 911R. Like 800% increase in the first month?

Seems like a legit ad, Yellow ITR in the last pic used to belong to an RS member.

Like it or not the CR is a limited edition, numbered, performance oriented modern collector car. I think the price is really fair. The spares list is extensive and worth at least $5000 A/C and radio delete options if rare help increase the price. He has all the literature too like window sticker which collectors love. I think the seller should have put it on BaT instead but a local sale is much easier.

Thumper, I would like to hear what Jason says about GT4 prices since he just sold his. My observation is that GT4 prices are softening since manual GT3's are on the horizon.

I'm not sure where the CR conversation came from? I thought we were just talking about regular s2ks.
Gt4s seem to be trading hands at MSRP right now unless it's a crazy spec.

I still can't figure out what everybody is upset about here - unless this specific car has a story I don't know about.

Under 30k USD for a 35k miles CR seems like it's very aggressively priced.

Owner should post it on s2ki - it will go back south where it came from like all other imported sports car here since '08

I think the GT4 market is going to cool off. Had dinner with a friend this weekend who has a crazy spec GT4 (sport seats, Ceramics, etc.). Was over $140K MSRP. He was lucky to get it because he is a long time Porsche Vancouver customer and traded in a 2011 Boxster with 20K kms, and a AMV8 with 22K kms where Porsche could make some more money on. Porsche offered him the same trade in value as he paid. The new 2018 GT3 base is $163K with some decent performance options only will be $170K. So for +$30K he can step up to a GT3. Supposedly Porsche plans to build a shit load of 991.2 GT3s, especially with 6sp manuals. It will be interesting if new GT3 will have any affect on 911Rs pricing........

Anybody that knows s2000 knows that the value lies in the stock unmodified raw experience. The more money mods you throw at it, the less it will be worth. Why do you think guys always try to convert their cars back to stock when they sell? The Cr is a steal but I doubt it's real, picture looks stolen from an old ad. Also Noone in the local s2k groups known about this one, so could be fake or could be a old collector who doesn't use forums.

Explain to me how a 40k CR is a "steal"? Honda took away features and charged buyers more for it. There isn't anything inherently special about a CR that can't be done to a base s2k. The CR isn't like an ITR, it doesn't have a better motor. It has the same steering ratio as an AP1 (oooh), it has marginally better suspension that still doesn't compare to quality coils, and it has the heaviest OEM wheels that are.... wait for it.... a slightly different shade of grey from the base model.

With all 06+ AP2s, there is DBW lag which kinda takes away from the "raw experience", but with a CR, you'd probably be stuck with it instead of fixing it with Flashpro since so much of the car's value lies in being totally unmodified.

Unless you're hoping to cash in big at BJ 40 years from now, or are a masochist who likes driving black cars with no a/c, just buy a base s2k.

I agree the CR is not much different then a base S2K to the average driver or weekend warrior. It is the collectors and speculators that are driving the price up.

The CR is a lot like the 93 Porsche 911 RS America. It wasn't very different then a regular 964 C2 and was even 10k less at the time! A little bit lighter, RS America stickers, big spoiler and cloth seats. Now they are worth 2-3 times as much as a regular 964 C2.

The 'Enthusiast Version' of a Car Should Cost Less, Not More

Meh, agree with pretty much what above said. As an s2k enthusiast and owner for years, I don't find CR special other than the name itself. You can do some suspension mods and minor tasteful interior & exterior mods and it's a better car IMO, especially considering that CR interior isn't exactly pretty. The lack of soft top is just a just a dealbreaker for me, particularly in a city like Vancouver where you want the flexibility of going top down when rain stops. A/C delete? No thanks. It comes handy sometimes.

Yeezus, you guys need to start an S2000 thread (like the ITR thread). Every time an S2K gets posted on this thread, the same discussions go on and on...
