According to the comments everyone seems to think it is legal to import to USA?

A Canadian delivered car should be ok to import to USA as it falls under NAFTA. The 25 year rule is for cars delivered outside of Canada, USA and Mexico.

Because people would rather complain about insurance rates going up a few percent, even though used car taxes cost you much more than insurance increases.

I believe this is why many of these cars never made it stateside.

This isn't a 1/45 Canadian euro spec.

It was originally 10k then was raised to 13k around 1pm today. Did anyone talk to the seller?

They never complete the transfer. They have the owner fill out the APV9T transfer form and then take it and never fill it in with their info and when they re-sell the car, they fill in the new owners info and the new owner pays the tax.

It's not legal but answers your question. Seen it tonnes of times.

Yea I've heard of this before too, what worries me more is that ICBC "allows this" and the potential "new buyer" would even go through with the transaction without actually having the owner present when the transfer is done.

Wouldnt you feel sketchy if you were throughout the whole transaction you were communicating with some asian dude, and then when you transfer the papers you see its registered to John Smith? I definitely wouldnt go through with it, who knows if its stolen and comes back to bite your ass.

Also how does the guy doing the flipping buy insurance for the new car? Since the old owner would of course cancel his insurance. Can you just buy a temp plate for a car thats not yours?

^ Why does a flipper need to insure the car? Even if they move it they just get a buddy to tow it or they take a risk and throw plates from another car on it.

Onus is on the seller to make sure they get their sellers copy of the transfer form, but these dudes are high pressure and 99% of people don't understand the process *at all* and are just happy someone takes care of it for them or they're not willing to lose the sale by insisting on completing the paperwork.

Sometimes sellers are willing to deliver the car too so no insurance is required.

When it comes time to sell buyers can't do test drives either (legally).

Received an email back from the guy finally. As you all noticed, raised the price to 13k. Could still be a good deal, but makes the exchange a little harder on the pocket book since the TSX won't be bringing much in these days. It was already bordering on an irresponsible purchase. Ah well, it was exciting for the morning. GF said go for. Gotta love that women.
