Is fucked... | True story, unless you have a very very strong relationship with your local Porsche dealer you won't be able to secure a 991.2 GT3... even if you put a deposit down 3 years ago, if this is your first Porsche, you will most certainly never get your order filled.
The deposit list @ Porsche Edmonton is supposedly 40+ deep, I can imagine it's much worse at the Vancouver dealers. Never mind the 40 people with deposits, there is another 10-20 people who are preferred customers with CGT's, 918's, or 2-3 Porsches at home who will bump any deposit holder down the line.
I think it's best to simply be patient, eventually the current car market will cool off, and when it does, it will be 2008 fire sale all over again. Save your money and wait for the right time to buy, mere mortals like 99% of us on RS simply can't afford to get into the 1M, GT3, GT4, etc game at this point.
It's one thing to buy a 130K 997.1 GT3, it's another to be holding on to it when the market only wants to pay 75K for it in two years etc.
Edit: I did have a bit of a dialogue with my SA about getting a 991.2, I won't be surprised if he calls me one day offering a car @ MSRP that someone else walked away from etc. Still though, @ 180K+Taxes for a "reasonable" configuration it's a pretty expensive car, makes the GT4 seems like even more of a bargain.

In theory, yes. In reality, PCV is currently only taking deposits for the .2 GT3 *if* you have a GT-car to trade OR you buy the .1 for 200k and trade it in when the .2 comes in. Obviously at a 40-60k deficit. Is fucked... | the moral of the story is to have a good relationship with the sales manager
I have an older friend that literally trades in his GT cars every 9-12 months because he gets to drive them for free. He pays MSRP, they give him back MSRP with 10k kms....not a bad deal....

not sure if it's the same one from before... just because you have a wife/dog/2.5 kids dosen't mean you have to be in something slow: 2007 Toyota RAV4 v6 - excellent condition - $10000 (Coquitlam) https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/pml/cto/6095980988.html
another one. cheaper, but more mileage and looks a little more worn: 2006 Toyota Rav4 Sport - $7500 (Surrey) https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/rds/cto/6095897272.html

^I am sure the car dealer assoc. lobbying groups closed this loophole. I was always a guy who sold his cars privately, but with the tax savings (15%) on a $50K car is $7,500, so what you lose when you trade in a car at wholesale is made up on the tax savings. Hence, it makes more sense to trade your car in Vs selling it privately. Then asshat cars dealers mark it up allot and provide financing to the next person.....rigged system for sure...

Next time, if you'd prefer, the dealer can consider your trade as a buy-in, instead of a trade in so you don't get the tax benefit. That way you don't have to partake in such a rigged system!

I wouldn't knock DCT boys, once you drive it awhile, it is awesome! I am a manual guy at heart, but DCT and PDK are so intelligent, firm, and intuitive. I am not sure I will go back....every time I drive my AMV8 it feels like a time machine.....

If that was eliminated then dealers used pricing would need to be more competitive.

The one loophole left is that many people declare lower values when buying / selling privately. Dealers generally are not willing to reduce the declared purchased price.
The dealer lobby group managed to tighten the rules dramatically for gifting so it wouldn't surprise me if they take the self declaring away to even the playing ground.
In WA state a buyer pays only pay 6.8% on private or dealer purchases but the amount you pay is based on fair market value. This comes from a pricing guide. Dealers actually add it to the purchase price automatically and it must be displayed clearly and with private sales the buyers pays it afterwards.
If the purchase price is within $2000 of fair market value the state uses the actual sales price. If it is less than $2000 of fair market value you must pay base on fair market value or the burden is on the buyer to prove that the car is worth less. How to Calculate Washington Car Tax - CarsDirect
