I don't know what its with s2ks or maybe cars in general, once it hits 100k kms, all of a sudden it seems like the value has dropped, or is it just me?

You could probably drive that one for a year and resell it for more or less the same after. The problem with s2k is that it is definitely not a practical car, and you cannot daily drive it. You dont want to drive it in the rain when its tail happy, and the rain drops are smashing into your canvas top loud as hell; cuz it also doesnt have a roof liner I believe. You definitely need to have the funds, and space to have 2 cars fully enjoy this car I believe.

I came across this 981CS yesterday from the PCA-CWR Facebook page:

https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/nvn/cto/6090996438.html
Spoiler!

The car is apparently owned by one of their chapter members, and has been well cared for under his tenure. Given the condition and maintenance history, I thought it was a reasonable -- but not smoking -- deal. However, for myself at least, the red interior was definitely not my cup of tea, so I couldn't justify it.
Oh wow that red is just too much...
Spoiler!

Yes, yes it is lol.

Terminal Porsche told me on wed that they are out of allocation for the new 718s as well so pretty shit out of luck if you want to far a decent manual transmission Cayman right now.

The s2000 in Port Moody has low km and is $24,500. Has anyone looked at it?
Wonder why that hasn't sold. A junkie white ap1 was posted for over 26 a little while ago and it seems to have sold. It's trunk was full of water and it had many other issues.

If this guy is so fastidious with his maintenance why does he say the tires are good and to refer to the photo, those tires are almost bald!

From what I know, the Caymans / Boxsters do go through their rear tires much more quickly than their fronts. Judging by the photo, I wouldn't say the tires are bald.

If you look near the middle of the tread, at the 2nd groove from the outside, you can see a treadwear indicator on the tire. Treadwear indicators are usually found at the 2/32" mark, and judging by the picture, I'd say there seems to be at least 4/32" worth of tread remaining on that 2nd groove from the outside.

On the 3rd groove from the outside, there is another treadwear indicator as well, and this one seems to have worn slightly more than the one at the 2nd groove. This is probably the result of camber wear.

And if you look at the outer shoulder, it doesn't look like the current owner has really aggressively pushed the car under situations involving high lateral g loads.

So I'd say the tires are definitely not new, but I don't think they'd need replacing just yet.

On Craigslist cars for sale, just noticed the 'posted today' option/filter on the top left corner ... very helpful. Has it always been there or is that a recent additional feature?

Let me just get my flame suit on....

1999 Porsche 911 Carrera - $22500 (Langley)

I think the days of $17K 996's are pretty much gone here in the LM. This car is the cheapest 911 coupe I've seen in a while. Yes the km are up there at 161km and "what about the IMS bearing blah, blah blah" but 1999's came with a dual row IMS bearing that was much more reliable, and in this case high km is a good sign, garage queens had more IMS issues. Ad claims lots of maintenance receipts. If one could negotiate it down a bit it would go from a Craigslist fair deal to a Craigslist great deal. The next cheapest coupe on CL right now is an '03 Mk2 C4S for $39K.

So many of these cars have headed back south due to the weak Canadian dollar. There aren't many budget 911's even posted on CL in the last couple of years.

^^ I've talk to the owner. I was considering going to see it, but no hard back sport seats, no PSE, no litronics and budget money to unbutcher the turbo twists.

He brought it over from the island. He's only had it a month. Says he's found something else, but I think there's more to it. As I say in every 996 thread, have the guys doing the PPI pull the trans sump plug. If they find bearing grease there RUN. If it howls at all. RUN This will become the next big 996 sticking point. Budget 5k minimum to pull, and freight the trans to the states for repair.

Having said that, these 99's are the ones to get if you don't mind the looks. Cheapest cost of entry, and ideally skip the IMS issues.

I've talked to the C4S guy too, sounds like a good dude. I think he's on the high end of the price side. That one last year sat on CL for 6 months at 32k. Still might go see it and feel out the price situation.

^^Yeah I looked at the silver mk2 C4S that was for sale for $32,750 last year (owner in Richmond). Owner seemed like a pretty straight up guy, said he'd had IMS/water pump/etc done by a mechanic friend (no receipts), naturally I took that for what it was worth. I took it to Juan's for a PPI, water pump was leaking and a number of other issues that would have cost about $5K to get sorted. I made him an offer based on the work required but we couldn't arrive at a mutually agreeable price. I guess someone paid his price eventually?

I ended up buying one from Pfaff Porsche in Ontario and shipping it out. It seems crazy to me that there are so few reasonably priced 996's available here. Look in some southern US cities and they're overrun with the things, damn weak Canadian dollar

09 WRX STI HATCH

Okay mileage (146xxx KM), good price (22.5K), compared to the other 30K asking prices. Some mods. Not sure if this the widebody or the narrow body variant. I'm pretty sure its the widebody.
