They don't transfer it to their name.

They take the transfer papers from the previous owner and use that to sell it to the next person who buys the car.

And to avoid the date expiring on the form, if it was filled in the first place, a lot of them will grab new papers and copy over the details and forge a signature if the date has passed the maximum time allowed to register.

Therefore no tax paid.

But he has plates on it... Unless they just used the pics from the original ad

Don't the insurance agent require valid ID to sell the car? How do. I prevent someone from just forging my information and selling my car?

Plates can be off another car, makes the sale look legit and most sellers will risk those plates on a test drive if you're just doing a short drive and not being heaty on streets to get your plates run.

As for insurance agents, they don't require ID if you know them ;)

I've had friends of friends do this a long time ago and they just throw their agent friend a transfer as long as the new person buys insurance from that agent. A lot of agents make commission per set of plates they sell.

Can this be? 2007 Subaru Impreza Wagon, 97K kms, clean status, $2255. Posting lists DEALER # as 31151, looks like that Suzuki dealer on No. 3 Road (WC Auto Direct).

Something fishy must be going on here. That dealership is owner by Richmond Subaru, theres gotta be reason its so cheap AND they're not selling at the Subaru dealership for way more money.

Regarding the 330ci, yes the flipper is using old pics. The plates are the same as when I test drove it. And he got it in a partial trade for his e36 m3. So maybe no taxes there.

snowfarmer 05-18-2017 05:53 AM

Probably forgot a digit in the price on the listing. Call them and see if they'll sell it to you for $2,255, not a chance they'll sell it for $2,255. If it sounds too good to be true....

Even if you factor in blown gasket, timing belt, water pump needs replacing ... if it really is at this price, it's a helluva pickup. So unless it's missing a 1 in front of the $2255 ... I want to go and buy it on the spot.

Lol at impreza. Called in to inquire and they wouldn't even give me a price for it. They took down the price on the ad too. Probably trying to reprice it now for maximum profits.

TouringTeg 05-18-2017 02:34 PM

Lol @ 595 doc fee plus a $300 prep fee
