Here is an interesting option or any other Jetta in this generation with the 1.8T gas engine.

2013 Jetta Hybrid, $15,700 (don't know mileage on it, don't know reliability of the VW hybrid either :<)

It even has a built-in Sharp air purifier. How's that for tech? :smug:

This car has Michelin Defenders (insane treadlife) and an extra set of winter tires. Seems like it's been well taken care of.

Not very well reviewed from these reviews (interestingly similar to other VW products I've seen).

Price seems to be a bit high, but the 2005/2006 is the good buy for the LS430 since the 05 refresh came with 6 speed, adaptive cruise, rearview camera, and swiveling headlights.

The Ultra Lux package is quite rare, and comes with an air suspension (which tend to be a bit more maintenance heavy) and a bunch of rear seat controls.

Future collectible?

I had awesome memories of these in the early 90's. Mostly of the "Sportback" models. Never saw many of the AWD turbo variation

my sister wanted a jetta!! I'll pass this on. I like the TSX and Camry type options can anyone vouch for jetta? :)

nsx042003 06-11-2017 07:33 PM

The Jetta is made in Mexico, and the 2.0 sucked. 1.8T is nicer, but i feel the inside is just too rental to me

A Volkswagen with a dual clutch transmission, turbocharged 4 cylinder, and a hybrid system is not something I'd want to own long term. Incredibly complex systems have a much higher chance of failing and being expensive to fix when they're so integrated.

Wasn't this generation's "Si" just an "EX" model?

dared3vil0 06-11-2017 08:16 PM

Yup. SiR was the "si"

I heard this one is a particularly steamy pile

Had a weird CL experience today. Emailed about a car that was posted last week, ad was deleted but he emailed me today with an address and time. Couldn't reply because the ad (and relay) were deleted.

Seller acttually then reposted the ad later this morning.

Showed up to a non existent address in west van, with no car in sight. New ad also deleted, never heard from the seller again. WTF?. Sold the car before we got there and just didn't feel like telling me? Nice day for a drive, but what a waste of time. Had lots of buyers pull no shows, but this is a first for a seller.
