since we're posting M cars. what do you all think about this one?

The Producer 08-25-2017 02:01 PM

been through 2 local owners - both well known guys on BCB. Both have only improved the condition of the car.

I think it has a bit of history, but it's pretty clean. The caramel interior is super rare, and has aged a bit. I think the PO looked into restoration and decided it wasn't feasible with the current condition of the material. Having said that, it's perfectly usable.

Great entry into the e39 world - a car I still haven't owned, and feel like I might miss out on. If the timing was different, I'd go for it. If you're a BCB member, hit up the site. It's posted there for sale as well as the PO's posts about the work that has been done to it.

Bottom line: it's a good buy if you're cool with owning a 20 year old M car that requires a fair bit of steady maintenance.

no it should be just fine. miatas run a crossmember spine or wtv that join the front and rear subframes. a little bit of rust would not make the car unsafe

Do you need a cheap, reliable car to get you to work\school, your GF/BF's place and back again. Of course you do or why else would you be looking on CL for cheap cars.

This car ain't cool looking, but it'll get you where you need to go on a budget. You have to view this car to truly appreciate how well it has been taken care of.

Buy this car if you are one of the following:
A student.
A student who works part-time.
A student who works part-time and is in a relationship.
A parent of a student.
...you get the idea.
lmao

2002 RSX Type-S $5400, has a bit of mileage but looks really well kept. Has a fair bit of mods which could either be kept as is, or returned to stock and parted out

pretty good deal for a low km C4s

08 E92 M3 - $32.5K @ 86xxx km Seems to be a good price. But phone number leads back to a body shop.

So, the licence plate...I do not think they were using that sequence in 2008. Something is fishy

2007 Porsche Boxster Convertible - $17K.

Thoughts? Looks to be in good shape.

What does that have to do with anything? It could easily have had new insurance obtained in 2016 or 2017 (convert to/from storage insurance, new owner, simply wanted new plates, etc) when those plates came out. That is not evidence of anything fishy whatsoever.

Also, the insurance tag ... I do not think they sold 9-year insurance in 2008. Something is definitely fishy.

I don't think this car could hold enough fuel to be filled up in 2008 and then drive 86,000kms. Something is definitely fishy.

My first comment isn't about this car in particular. But I've looked at a number of cars from Repo.com in the past, and my general impression is that they are generally overpriced for the condition the car is in.

For my second comment, the car has 150k on the odo. I know I don't want to buy a 10 year old, 150k km German car unless I know it has a solid maintenance history, or has been thoroughly inspected by a trusted mechanic.

The only thing I would be worried about is once you google the number, the first thing that comes up is "Body man needed in North Van", the car is also located in North Van and the ad says no claims.

These guys are an auto shop on Welch street in north van. They also have a body shop next door that could be hiring. I work in the area everyday. Car has been there for a while, I guess being repaired then now sold.

Ps. There’s also another 08 e92 down the street from here. Grey with Cf roof, 110k, manual, dinan exhaust, stickers saying tuned by racing greed. That one is 34.5k

snowfarmer 08-29-2017 03:34 PM

not necessarily, I have summer and winter cars, sometimes I've pulled insurance early and had to turn in the plate to do so. When I go to re-insure it results in me having a very recent plate sequence on a car I've owned for a few years.
