That's a fucked up story and probably best you avoided that sale. However, if it is now at a dealer and has been through an inspection and has been serviced (the brakes, balljoint etc mentioned) then I would not be worried about the car at this point. Before all of this came to light everyone was agreeing $8k for a low km sportback was a great deal if fully serviced. It appears now it is out of the hands of a shady seller, possibly fully serviced and can be purchased through a licensed dealer. This leaves me a little confused to why people are hoping on a bandwagon of dodging a bullet (example the two posters ^ above this post). The car isn't the issue the seller was and she is out of the equation now. Just my 2 cents. |

Most used cars I've seen that go through the "safety inspection" are slapped back together just to pass and good to go. Cheapest rotors and pads that can be found, etc etc. |
The car is NOT at a dealer right now. this car is a private sale. The owners name is Cleo. And the girlfriend Kirsten was doing the selling. (BTW not hot, imagine slightly overweight typical Surrey Caucasian girl) The seller Cleo (guy) works at a Mercedes dealer as a lot attendant, and I guess scooped in on a trade in deal and bought the car without any reconditioning in March of this year for $6500. He wants to sell it for what he paid plus a little bit more. His girlfriend Kristen was handling the showing of the car when we met at King George station and handling the bartering while Cleo (the owner) sat by the side and barely said a word. As mentioned the car has front suspension clunk (pretty sure front ball joint, common on IS300). Front Michelin Pilot A/S tires are cracking and falling apart, and rear tires are bald Hankook all seasons. I used these as bargaining points, and she said the car came like that from the previous owner and they didn't want to put any money into it. Rear brakes are also worn out, however the seller mentions he will include rear pads and rotors as part of the sale. Note timing belt is also not done as far as I can tell. The most worrying part for me is that the paint is bubbling on the rear hatch. If you guys do end up looking at the car please look at where the license plate bolts in and around the rear glass. Its very bad in that area. It's an aluminum hatch, so its not rust, but its aluminum corrosion and a repaint process is difficult on aluminum. |

maybe i should chop the roof and convert a wagon out of it. is a V8, is comfortable and very reliable. just irritated i get those occasional days that i need to move stuff around at home (like winter wheel and tires and buy crap at Ikea) A comfortable utility vehicle is called for. |

not the best price :troll: |
I think it's a solid price. Maintence is not bad if you go aftermarket parts and diy. Drivetrain is bulletproof. Only issues of concern are -SBC hydraulic unit -air suspension -valve cover gasket leaks Please refer to Richard Mozis as the chassis and drivetrain are the same as E55. Quote:

Nice price and the yellow too. Not a big fan of the 4.2 .... scary stuff. I wouldn't mind a bi turbo wagon of the previous gen. As stupid as this sounds I think an automatic will make more sense as I commute around two hours a day. Zzzz. Looking for a nice deal |
stay away from the 4.2. esp that generation S4. |
I've gone back and forth with myself about pulling the trigger on a 4.2 S4 avant, but I keep getting too scared from all of the horror stories. Such a shame because when running smoothly it's a trump card as far as dailys, nothing beats a v8 manual awd wagon :nyan: |

Lol that's the shadiest shit ever, glad you didn't end up putting a deposit. I would never put a deposit on a Craigslist deal no matter how much information I had on the other guy. In the end even if you have all his information including address and stuff, what're you really going to do about it if the guy runs away? |
Continuing the old Honda theme https://images.craigslist.org/00t0t_...1_1200x900.jpg https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/van/...315176745.html Would use as a beater since the body looks rough in areas |
