I like used cars being sold in West Van, better odds the owner has had the $ to keep the car maintained. At this mileage it's due for a timing belt/water pump, should at least be on it's second TB/WP change due to age. If that job has been done reasonably recently and they ran the car on premium as they should, this car would be a good deal even at 5.9K. Quote:

This year of corolla still uses timing belts. At 300km, it will be due for its 3rd one. And that cost about a grand if you take it to a shop for they often replace the water pump at the same time. The Infiniti uses a chain . So it doesn’t have the 100km intervals. And half the mileage . |
Never mind, should read more closely. |
Doesn't that get of A4 have huge electrical (and other) problems? Quote:

I think the B5 gen had more issues, this one is a B6. Make no mistake it's not an unkillable automotive cockroach like a late '90's Toyota Corolla. I've owned 2 of these cars (a B6 A4 and an '03 Mk1 TT) with that 1.8T engine and neither of them let me down. Parts are cheap and easy to get and they were both pretty easy to DIY except for the TB/WP replacement.....arrgghhh. Hence why I called that out in an earlier post, the whole front bumper has to come off, TB/WP on these cars is a $1000 job. If that has been done recently, this car is a great deal, if it hasn't been done, it needs it done right away due to age as well as km. Regardless, it's posted in the "Craigslist Good Buys" thread because it's priced cheaper than comparable examples of the same car and has some rare attributes (manual wagon). It's not the "Craigslist reliable cars thread" as evidenced by MK1 GTI's that get posted recently. Quote:

I just recently got a CE Plus 5spd with 250kms, you will want to do the serpentine belt, as well as the timing chain tensioner though, if they haven't been done already. The valve cover gasket and the oil pan should also be seeping/leaking if they aren't already around that mileage. Also can pretty much guarantee the shocks will be toast, and the car will be a floaty mess that bottoms out everywhere. Mine is super sketchy on the highway and going over any bumps or ruts in the road. The thing with these old Corollas is oil consumption due to clogged piston ring oil drain holes on the pistons. Can range from minor to exceptionally severe. It's simply a poor design in this generation of 1ZZ-FE and nothing can be done aside from tearing it down to replace the piston rings. You can put in tons of engine cleaning additives to try and unclog those holes. Some have done it with varying levels of success. So far my oil consumption is on the high side, but my oil pan is seeping so... |

https://www.repo.com/listing/6630 2011 CLS63 AMG with 55k km and no accidents. I think this is a good deal. Much better price/value than a C63. Just beware that brakes and the air suspension is $$$ and the engine has a chance of going kaboom (headbolt). |
This is pretty funny lol, $500 for blackout emblems. https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/rds/...415710706.html |
