These S2000 prices are still insane. You can get a Z4 or Boxster for nearly half the price.

Z4M Money!

Seems like you forgot what had happened to your BMW recently. :troll:

I'll give you the Z4 being ugly, but you could probably get a perfect 987 for the price of the 06 above, which is a better car in every possible way.
I get the nostalgia tax though. I pay it every time I buy a part.

indeed.

I was thinking boxsters with consideration for the top down experience but that’s even more relevant to my interests.

If the mechanics and collision history checks out, it could be a good buy at $7k or so. Last summer, the cheapest I've seen was a 06 GX (base model) with less kms asking for $9k or $9500.

IMO, unless you specifically have a soft spot of NA/NB, the NCs are now a much better buy (as in, better value) than the old skool Miatas.

I like how the map shows it literally in the middle of Shawnigan Lake.

2010 Audi S4, 223K kms, $14,800 ... if you don't mind one with high mileage, guess that is the trade off for that price.

W124 wagon is my dream car. Timing couldn't be worse though. Listed since Sept. Wonder what's missing from the description...

tofu1413 12-29-2017 09:18 PM

He passed on the car because it is in pretty rough shape - cracked bumper, peeling clear coat, plenty of dings, a few 4+ inch scrapes and a rear door hit. Owner only disclosed some of this damage before seeing the car. He said in the ad that the car was mechanically strong but on the test drive the engine was misfiring and the traction control was stuck off. Engine also had a slight bottom end tick on idle. No service history or receipts at all. Cheapest ironman tires on non original wheels.

The owner seemed nice enough and it's still a good car for a daily driver M5 if fixed mechanically but the price needs to come way down. Not worth to do the body work, especially for a 2000 car. The only good things about this car is that the Carproof is clean, two owners and the KMs are pretty low. The two tone seats are pretty nice. The 2nd owner only had it for 4 months - bought as a fixer upper from the first owner as the car wasn't running before.

Sorry to hear you wasted your time on that car.. my friend was also looking into buying it, but it sounded like there was too much wrong. Which is clearly what was depicted by your photos and write up.

It's unfortunate, but a good E39M will come up eventually. This car isn't worth more than 16-17 as it sits.

MK6 GTI - $13.5K - 74xxx km - Clean Title
https://images.craigslist.org/00f0f_...Fq_600x450.jpg
I did a craigslist search, looks like its the cheapest, lowest kms, and clean titled, manual mk6 gti on craigslist

whitev70r 12-30-2017 09:20 AM

Manual snobs don't need to read any further ... but for some, this might be a good compromise (fun functional 2nd vehicle that the SO can drive)

2008 Legacy GT, auto with sport sharp, 140K kms, $8830 (unfortunately, listed at Repo.com, no negotiating, but a fair listing price)

I've owned one for over 4 months. Great car. Has decent power and very comfortable for such an old car. Love how the trunk has the ability to fold up seats to fit 7 people. The car drinks a LOT of gas tho.. one of the main reasons why I got rid of it.

Inspiration for you guys haha.
