I can get eyes on it if anyone would like a youtube video. It's about a 10 min drive from me.

Gilly was that a JDM import? I notice the front plate hanging.

IIRC all wagon TE's were "euro spec" special order cars, just like the 300CE coupes. (those things still look gangster)

Those "euro" cars tend to have those super wide plate frame cut outs on the front bumper and most i've seen have the one piece flush glass headlights.

edit// apparently wagons were NA as well according to a resident prof but theres a few here and there were grey imports.

yes, it was a JDM import. Already had all the AMG goodies on it. The AMG front bumper only had holes for european plate which is why my BC plate was hanging lol. Sold it to a young asian girl from seattle.

Can't get enough of these wagons.
Not sure about the price on these anymore since they don't come up too often. Looks like this example is from someone that took good care of it though! oh, and 6MT.

I have a friend in the market for a car, I put them onto this one. The only odd thing is that the seller won't send the VIN. They're going to look at it next week, can run the VIN then. Will update the thread if the CL Good Buys thread delivers another result.

Owner says he’s the second owner, bought it from a dealer, it was a theft recovery. I thought theft recovery automatically meant a rebuilt title (ad says clean title), does anyone know the answer to that? I did a quick google and didn’t get an answer. Not able to check it out until the 9th. Will run the VIN before we do the deal.

Theft recovery does not mean the vehicle gets a rebuilt title. My IS300 was stolen once and has a clean title.

Icbc definitely doesn't write off every stolen vehicle. It's the same as a collision if it's cheaper to fix and give it back to you then they will and wont be a write off

A theft recovery which leads to a rebuilt title could end up this way based on a few criteria:

- VIN tags stolen/stripped
- Value of parts within vehicle that were stripped exceed cost of replacement (i.e. entire interior was stripped and/or engine was removed etc.)

Ultimately, it will get a rebuilt title if the vehicle's "damage" is too significant. Someone would have had to buy it back and piece the car back together and be inspected to become admissible and inspected to be safely driven again.

Case in point - The current Toyota Sienna my folks have is a rebuilt from theft recovery, but the entire interior and VIN tags were stolen.

The old Toyota LE Vans my folks had (the ones you see in HK gangster movies full of machete-wielding gangsters) was stolen 7 times in a year, but was ever returned to us with no rebuilt title. Just a broken lock and ignition cylinder.

It's a rebuilt title from theft recovery despite the ad saying "clean title", theft write off occurred in August 2017...seller is getting rid of it 4 months later.

There's a few red flags on this one!

If you (or someone you know) is genuinely interested in the car, I would suggest speaking to the seller about the car. It simply could be that the seller bought the car as-is, rebuilt it, had it re-certified/inspected, and decided the cost to rebuild was not worth the time and financial commitments. The bottom line is to do the due diligence before making the move. I don't know what the market is for these cars are like, but if it's well below market value, and checks out okay, I'd at least give the guy a shot to hear his story.

My parents got their 2006 Toyota Sienna CE with 5000 miles (US car) for $7000 CAD, and after replacing the entire interior from a written-off 2006 Toyota Sienna LE model, it worked out to $10,000 all said and done, import taxes, duties, inspections, and registrations completed. The vehicle was 1/3 of the price and we still own it today.

One big problem is, my folks have tried to list it for sale in order to downsize since we've moved out, nobody would touch it with a 10-foot pole, thinking that it's extremely unsafe, especially young families with babies/children. So keep that in mind; I understand your suspicions on the vehicle in question.

There's a few high mileage 2008 M3s that keep on popping up on craigslist for low 30s. I think E46 is holding their value better.

I think the E92 M3 suffers the same problem/stigma as the E60 M5s - They simply do not hold their value well whatsoever.

Though the e60 m5 doesn't have near similar values as an e39 m5. That said, I've only seen a couple e60 m5s, but none with a mt. I'm surprised though, aside from the rod bearing issue of the e60/e92, I'd have expected it to hold better value.

The E39 M5 has become a collectors car, same with the E46M. E9x isn't there yet since it's still pretty new.. production only stopped in 2013. Not to mention the km's are high. For $25-30k you can buy a much better and lower k E46 compared to E9x.

E60 M5 is a whole different story, the car bombed in price mainly because of the SMG. I've seen a couple clean cars in 6MT come up for sale, which went for ~$60k. So if you find one in manual for a good price, don't hesitate to buy it because those will increase in value.

They made very few manual e60 m5. The biggest difference between e60 m5 and e90 m3 is you're stuck with smg on m5, m3 you get either manual or dct. The smg apparently drives like garbage and frequently blows up, 2/3 currently on cl have new trannys with ~120k km.

Then you get rod bearings and throttle body issues with both.

This one was listed at $13000 (I believe) about a month ago when I was looking for a fun wagon.

Sounds very well maintained, but the V70R can have expensive AWD/bevel gear issues.

e60 m5 SMG probably will be in the shop half of the time and cost twice the price to upkeep.
