Man, I love the exterior still so much. But WOW that interior looks like shit. Looks like any other early 2000’s Chevy product. <American> cars sure have come a long way

Hondaracer 02-08-2018 09:40 PM

yea all the controls look like they came out of a fucking caravan..

still probably kill most cars on the road today though

The Producer 02-08-2018 09:42 PM

time for my bi-annual mini R56 post

https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/van/...476552992.html

R56 for 6k (it was 6500 the other day).

still the most fun car I've ever owned. right of the box, these things are a blast.

first year R56 = problems but.... it's done 156k. Timing tensioner would have presented itself. New clutc and brakes and laser blue = best colour.

Porsche 911 SC - $87000

No idea on pricing on Porsches but it's pretty cool.

I dunno my Porsches from that era, but an acquaintance who is familiar with older collector cars have on multiple occasions mentioned that for this kind of Porsches (pre-1980 ones), the Hagerty value largely depends on how original the various hard parts are. This acquaintance would probably be able to tell you which years have the wide body options or not (I can't), but just a quick look at the interior immediately indicates that it has been extensively modified.

pricing seems crackpipe to me. It’s cool in many ways though. Been for sale at least since the summer.

It’ll look normal with an American. With 2 Americans it’ll just look slammed :fullofwin:

I wouldn't bother with that place. They leave ads up for a long time long after they're sold to get people in.

Call in beforehand if you are interested to find out if it's sold or not.

the guy obviously has spent serious money on his car. Unfortunately from a resale perspective, it is to his taste profile Most Porsche guys looking at older 911s want it stock or very close to stock. I personally like the car, but would be scared off because of potential resale. For most guys who like this kind of modded porsche, you are better off getting a built 997 or heck even a 991.

Spoiler!

I have a friend who scours the earth for rare Porsche parts. Especially thse hard to find factory parts that weren't readily available. The factory widebody and spoiler on this Porsche are pretty unique. What would worry me is the lack of engine pics. I wonder what it looks like under the hood?

SkunkWorks 02-09-2018 10:20 AM

That 911 is crackpipe.

SCs never came with 'factory widebody' unless the guy used OEM fenders and quarters from a 930 and grafted them on which could be the case. More likely they're aftermarket fiberglass jobbers. The insinuation that this is a factory ordered widebody is BS. Didn't exist then.

No one forward dates their 911 either, at least not from a value or desirability perspective.

Interior is just straight rice.

No mention nor work done on the two most expensive items on a 911 when modifying - engine and suspension. "PO did it" doesn't count - bet you the guy has zero receipts to prove it.

At half his ask that car is still overpriced.

Most folks looking for an aircooled 911 wouldn't be cross-shopping with a waterpumper 997 or 991...

Huge difference between the two and for two completely different groups of potential owners, modified or not.

What's it worth? For curiosity sake. Obviously give or a take a little since we're going off of pictures.

If the bones are good, engine is in good shape, and the widebody conversion wasn't done by Ray Charles, probably 35-45k realistically.

This is of course IMO but the fact it's been for sale for months likely means I echo the sentiments of the marketplace

Fun Fact:

Those "blob" shaped elements in GM cars were created intentionally to hide poor panel fitment.

According to Bob Lutz's book, the big increase in interior quality in GM cars happened roughly in 2 stages.

First stage was setting the cost targets to the equivalent Japanese car instead of some arbitrary and kinda ridiculous GM standard. Design term team was then also given a lot more control over the vehicle

I remember one that was the same color and I believe the same price but the guy used terrible pictures of the car; it wasn't washed, half the car was in shadow, etc.

How about a reasonably priced Mazdaspeed Miata with hardtop? Some nice FM mods on it, throw on a set of 15x8 6UL’’s or RPF1’s and that would be a pretty well sorted ride.

I like water cooled and air cooled, just differently.......I do agree there are two camps, but allot of people play in both......

NISSAN 300ZX TWIN TURBO!!!!! - $9500

82k km

Qmx323 02-10-2018 05:47 PM

Estate sale...

82000km...

Fuck thats mint for 9.5 which usually fetches you a cracked body kit beat up 300ZX TT

Mr.Money 02-10-2018 06:09 PM

300ZX looks decent but i wonder even if you babied it and maintenance it every 10k it would still turn into a Money Pit with repairs.

TouringTeg 02-10-2018 06:30 PM

I had a 90 300ZX NA and it had a full motor rebuild about 180kms. Cost the previous owner around $5500 with a new clutch. They are complicated cars but that 300ZX would go for a lot more on BAT.
