Cheap on gas too! And since it's a vw, CEL is going to be a no-brainer on both the vw and the audi. Point goes to Jetta LOL

I know nothing about euros. Do they get CEL often?
Any issues with these Jettas?

The running joke amongst any VWs/Audi's is the CEL. "Oh you got a VW... do you have a CEL?"

Similarily to Subie's ringland or HG. Or e46's subframe. But i guess those aren't really a joke LOL

The MkVI had a few moderate/major issues to look out for, specific to the 2.0T FSI and the DSG. 2.5 5 cylinder and 6Auto cars are a lot more trouble free.

This link's got the info on the 2.0T FSI: https://www.shopdap.com/blog/vw-audi...-problems.html

The DSGs also had issues with the mechatronics units - a lot of these were replaced under warranty. A faulty unit will make itself known through jerky 1st and 2nd gear behaviour... about 3k at the dealer.

Don't know too much about the suspension and electrical - VWVortex probably has some sort of a common issues guide that can help

Both of the Mk VI rental Jettas I've had with less than 10k on the odo have had a check engine light on lmao.. probably a coincidence or something minor since they drove fine.

not fun to work on my wifes newer jetta thats for sure. VW thinks they are like mercedes and bmw so plain obd readers dont work on newer models and you basically need to spend more for one specific to them. They also want you to pay big bucks for their "specialty tools" because they designed their parts completely opposite of every normal car.

Why Volkswagen, i thought you were the peoples car.

Ha! Good luck. I think my price range would be looking for about 150k more on the odometer than that.

vitaminG 02-15-2018 04:55 PM

Man these things are getting cheap. I know it was discussed recently but how bad could the n54 be? So tempting at these prices. Can't think of any other manual transmission sedan with 300hp for 10k

I've always wanted one. After researching it though I soon realized that there is a time for a BMW in my life but its not now.

As long as it checks out they are great but expensive to maintain cars.

996 Turbo.

If I thought I could sell my C4S easily enough, I'd be all over this. Reasonable km at 123K, probably all good mechanically (I think Scan Auto has a decent rep?)

TouringTeg 02-16-2018 06:22 AM

I like that one too. If you don't mind the mileage that is a good way to go. Forward has One with 70kms but it's $67k
The market has risen on these a lot in the past few years.
2001 Porsche 911 Turbo Victoria City, Victoria - MOBILE

snowfarmer 02-16-2018 07:45 AM

I wouldn't shy away from 123K on any Porsche 911. The suspension would probably benefit from an overhaul at this KM if it's not already done but from a reliability standpoint, no worries.
