I'd consider it even as a rebuild if everything was documented very well, and it was a shade cheaper. Like slightly under 10k.

no idea about the reliability of AMGs after 100K.
I had a look at both of the E55s for sale at 'The Car Place'

They have a 2005 as well as that '03. The '03 was in decent shape with a lot of equipment, the '05 had a lot of paintwork done - There was still masking tape in the wheel wells and around the gas cap - even when I made an appointment to see the car.

I've seen that 944 at an autocross and have a few pics of it. It is fucking STUNNING in person. Granted this is from an 80s/90s euro fanboi but truly it is beautiful.

Hmmm... 88 Corolla or a 95 Civic.
The ad never said how bad the car is. In the pics, the body has some dents but the rust didn't look too bad.
Are you sure the $800-900 Civics don't need any work as well or are they 4 door, rust to hell and autotragic?

I called up the seller regarding the CRX

Windshield has a large crack and recommended replacement, just under 300k
Brakes (calipers/rotors) need work, hatch struts are blown, and the sunroof leaks

Would be a good deal provided you can deal with the fixes

Did they mention how bad, if any, is the rust in the rear quarters?

I didn't ask about rust in the rear quarters.
I assume any older civic has quarter panel rust to a certain extent

Nothing that fender flares can't solve

Went to check out the 91 crx today, theres damage to hood and front driver side quarter panel, crack in the front windshield, trunk struts don't stay open, it's a minor leak from the sunroof and the brake master cylinder might have to be changed.. All that being said, the engine drives strong, rebuilt engine has under 100k on it. The clutch felt really light, barley feel it engaging. The seller was a very honest guy, but with all the work needed to be done I couldn't justify it.

Out of curiosity, can someone provide me some input on the novelty of having a 90s CRX compared to an early 90s Civic hatch/sedan?

I'm sure they share a lot of the same parts (even the front ends look visually similar), but why is the CRX usually selling for 3-4x the price of the other two?
