3-4k is cheap thats under 10k landed, and theyve been that price for several years.

heres some that recently went to auction, granted there are many duplicates, but this is also only one site and only page 1. so clearly e55s arent hard to come by in jdm land

one of them is actually a w124 e60 w/ R status but still pretty awesome

The nice ones aren't cheap. You wouldn't want to import anything below 3.5 B. And, ideally you want one that currently passes "shaken". Their version of MOT, TUV, VI that makes the car insurable for the road. A lot of these cars are at auction because they are too expensive to fix in order to pass. Japan allows parallel import of cars. So while a lot of these are jdm spec european cars. It is possible to find a true euro spec in Japan if you have patience and money. It's the same as going to adesa auctions locally. Couple of gems but mostly crap.

Point to be made - overall people take much better care of cars in Japan than they do here. And yes, I speak this from experience
Of course I can discredit a Mercedes because it's JDM. I know of four instances within my circle of friends, where two Mercedes' had low compression landed and needed engine replacement, one transmission failure and one BMW with once again, low compression... needing engine replacement shortly after purchase and inspection.

You know what Mercs are generally used for in Japan right?

Lol i love how people credit any car from Japan just because because of the notion that they all take care of their cars and rarely drive them. This is speaking from experience as well.

Buying an AMG with full service records here rather than receiving one overseas with no records would be far more confidence inspiring, which is why I had my doubts because that one is from Japan. However I do realize that it is a $7000 AMG. It just looked clean in the ad, which is what sparked my interest.

Believe it or not, I know a few people who think driving manual means having the "manual shift function" aka tiptronic/paddles/whatever. Smfh.

Says it runs and drives, could be an easy or hard limp mode to fix. With the SMG transmission I wouldn't even consider it. But had it been a manual, well that's a different story.

I went to look at this car when it was for sale few months ago for $7000 from the previous owner to this guy. The car looks great in person. The car has a $10,000 accident. I think the car is pretty messed up mechanically as this guy owned it for several months and was not able to fix it and is selling as is still broken. If it was just a throttle actuator I think the car would have been fixed by now.

I saw this and wondered if it was a fake post. Looks like it has legit BC plates, but I don't know... I really wish this came up when I was shopping for my car. S2000 prices are ridiculous these days...

That car sat at Honda Way in Abby for almost 2 years.

The Honda Way had a few S2k’s outrageously priced like 5 years ago (30k).

Car registerednin Alberta means it will have to go through BC inspection before it can be legally insured here. Wouldn't touch this with a 10 foot pole

Borderline not good buy with unknown mileage and needs floor work but it looks stock which is good. 90s Fox Bodies and GM F-Bodies are going up in price.

BONUS

Not a great buy with conversion but I just want it

If I was in the market for an SS, rather than go through the cost and hassle of a manual swap, I'd spend a bit more $$ up front on one that was already manual with way less miles. Silver wouldn't be my first choice but still enough of these to be found in other colors.
