Does anyone know how these used car warranty works? Is it really bumper to bumper or do they decline you when you try to claim. I don't mind paying a few G on top of a m3 for example so I can sleep better at night

dared3vil0 03-23-2018 08:27 PM

Depends on who and what. Don't buy a "13th national bank of gold star" warranty, but Old Republic or First Canadian or any of the big boys are good warranties.

twitchyzero 03-23-2018 10:14 PM

those CLS have not aged gracefully
CLA will probably look like a steaming turd in 10 years time too

True I don't like the styling on the CLS either. Much prefer the w211 e55 Styling

Ding 03-23-2018 10:48 PM

I dont mind the design of that generation. The new generation looks like shit though.

twitchyzero 03-23-2018 11:11 PM

i'm sure the V8 is an absolute riot for the ballers in the gas thread

Akinari 03-23-2018 11:34 PM

The original CLS always looks like it's smushed. Like when your ice cream starts melting and everything starts looking sad and depressing.

westopher 03-24-2018 08:24 AM

They've pretty much carried that styling into all of their sedans other than a couple now though.

Dared3vilo summed it up.

I had an Old republic 3 year 60,000km warranty on one of my vehicles and claimed $17k worth of stuff. A good service advisor also comes into play when making these claims. You'll want to deal with someone who has experience making the claims and a shop that does lots of work with the warranty company so they know how to work with the warranty company. There was one claim Old Republic tried to deny but the advisor provided a solid case on why it should be covered and after hearing her out they allowed it. With that warranty I had a $50 deductible.

My wife’s husband has a 3rd party warantee he got through be of the Ford dealers in surrey, the engine shit the bed and the timing chain broke in the cover, since he was 300kms over the oil change rotation though they Denied his claim and he paid about 4500 out of pocket for a new engine.

In general if you read the reviews most of these companies have very poor ratings. I guess it’s also on you to make sure you’re 100% in line with the requorements though

Wot? Soooo you mean you? Or are you one of the multiple husbands your wife has?

westopher 03-24-2018 11:03 AM

Hondaracer I never expected a conservative guy like you to get down with the polyamorous relationship.
How cutting edge of you.

We get it man.

If it's got the old style rod bearings in it then do an oil analysis and see if there's lead or copper in the oil. If it's got the new style then see how long ago they were done. I found this out with one quick little google search.

Also, I would suggest doing some research over on some BMW specific sites that are more tech oriented instead of on a general forum/thread that is very far from being tech heavy.

:yuno:

That's ridiculous, how is someone so lazy that they can't be arsed to post individual ads for each car with decent pictures and descriptions. Putting in 2 or 3 hours of work would probably increase his chances of selling one or two of those cars. It's not like they're $300 beaters that he just wants out of his driveway.

edit: ugh just saw grey interior - heinous

320icar 03-24-2018 05:53 PM

That whole Car looks hideous ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The Producer 03-24-2018 09:05 PM

i can't fail your opinion, but I'm :okay:

goddamn i love me some mk1 aerokit. the taco wing was such an FU to a$$hole aircooled purists that hated the whole idea of the 996.

Poor mans GT3 for poor men like me.

westopher 03-24-2018 09:53 PM

I fucking love that car. Though the same fault kept me from trading in my e36 for a blue one of the same spec (plus cash of course.) I just couldn’t get over how shitty the interior looks. I’m very glad I didn’t do it though, as it was when I was far less invested in my car.
