Trade you the e36 I know you want.
And agreed, its gonna need work. A car that I could drive and enjoy before it gets that work is what I am looking for in a car like this. If it can't deliver that, the 50k example thats fairly sorted is a better buy.

maybe not a good buy, the dealer seems a bit shady since every single car they sell is a rebuilt (including this ST). theyve had it for sale for many many many months. was $15.900, dropped to $13,900. very low km though. if they were willing to provide history or photos of damage, and if you could offer 10k that could be a good pickup as a track toy.

e30 seller has a deposit in hand, thats not mine. Probably be happier buying a better car, more expensive one when I can afford it anyways, but it stings to miss it. The search continues.

Although BJ is selling an automatic, he isn't discounting the rebuilt title enough for his manual accord I think.

no.

here's one with 203,000 for $4K, almost 1/2 the price.

https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/rds/...572692460.html

I don't think the 3.2 adds much value and S-line is just a cosmetic appearance package.

Consider it a blessing. We all know that the cheapest E30 M3 will ultimately end up being the most expensive. Rust is scary as shit and there's no telling how bad the cancer is without a tear down of that area.

How do you guys recommend cars to non-car people? I'm thinking of recommending a lease takeover tbh.

Criteria:
Sedan
Auto
White/Black
Needs GPS / Back-up camera

Budget: 10-20k

Question, why are rebuilt cars always justified as a good buy for track? Is it because you lose less $ in case you crash it? If they are good enough for the track why not the street?

That's a good question, I believe it's cause track duty = abuse = lower car value. So if it's rebuilt already, it's like whatever.

I feel like the Corolla is just far too underpowered and under-featured to recommend.

For about $800 more than the Corolla CE CVT, you can get Civic LX Sedan which gives you 26 more hp, 10 more lb-ft, independent front & rear suspension (vs. Macpherson front, rear torsion beam), front & rear disc brakes (vs. front discs, rear drums), remote keyless entry, automatic climate control (vs. manual AC), heated front seats, 7" touchscreen display (vs. 3.5"), Android Auto/Apple Carplay, etc.

Just seems like a much more modern car for the money plus you still get the reliable K20 engine. The Corolla has a couple extra automatic safety features.

^Mazda 3 sedan/hatch would be a good buy in addition to the civic. Automatic transmission, multi-link rear suspension, really good-looking inside and out.

You can pick a slightly used 2014-2015 gs model with 20000-50000km for like $16k or a 2017 gs model with 10000 to 20000km for just under $20k which is a pretty good deal. Brand new it's $24.5k plus tax, freight etc...

Only thing though, no GPS, That's reserved pretty much for the top end model, but you can just buy an aftermarket and stick it to the dash.

Guy dropped $1000 on asking price. It was originally posted for $5K, even a few days ago. Looks like it's gone now, would have been a decent pickup. Did you, raysquared, get this?

I have a base model Mazda3 w/GPS. To add GPS to any Mazda3, you just need to buy $100 SD card from Ebay with maps. Every Mazda3 has the same head unit.

Mazda is a smaller volume manufacturer. It must have been cheaper for them to use the same ICE unit for every trim than have a separate one with GPS.

You do realize a non-car person won't notice or care about any of that stuff right?

Looking for a new daily, somewhat sporty yet functional. The previous posts mentioned the A3 sportback, I have my concerns regarding the Audi electronics but are they really warranted and for the price of 5-7k - what are your thoughts? Would I be better off spending that money on an early 2000's civic or mazda 3?
