If equal value, yes (which I realize that the question you responded to said equal value). Should be noted that if there is any additional taxable items or money involved, there will be tax on the difference.

It's like trading your car in at a dealership; you don't pay taxes on the value of the trade in.

The owner seems to think that a milano pink GSR is similar to a numbered Type R.

That Mercedes is a beaut... 83hp and 120lb/ft of torque though... requires a very, very patient and sedate driver

anxiety 05-20-2018 09:07 AM

For someone who doesn't do a lot of DIY's other than oil changes, will that Mercedes be a nightmare to own? Do dealerships or independent shops still service that car?

fliptuner 05-20-2018 09:23 AM

For the most part, Google and a set of hand tools is all you need.

My preferred shop is actually a Mercedes specialist (as well as a BMW specialist), but I think it leans more towards old Mercs. Shop rate is $90-$100/hr tho.

I think this car will teach you how to do a little bit more than oil changes. While the powertrain in this car is nukeproof, everything around the powertrain will need care and attention for daily use.

However, the servicing you'll need to be doing won't be quite out of your skillset if you're already doing oil changes. eg. Lubing hinges, replacing interior switches, brittle old plastics, small gaskets / bushings etc.

I'm *hopefully* buying a W123 in July and have been doing my usual Forum googling for common problems. Parts are cheap for this car and plentiful, as around the world they were mfg. by the millions. It is a simple car, and I know some things that are out of my realm (old, complicated Vacuum systems, turbo maintenance), will be dealt with through local specialists.

For sale is a 1990 Toyota Celica GTS with 156k kms located in Vancouver. Non-smoker car, clean title. Selling because we recently upgraded to a newer car. Has a brand new set of front tires, and the rears still have good tread life left. Only issues of note are cosmetic - this car is turn-key and drive away. Comes with 3 keys.

Recent work done:
-Regular oil changes (every 5k)
-New front and rear windshield wipers
-Replaced front fog lights with yellow H3 bulbs
-Replaced with 93+ Celica tail lights, will include older tail light assemblies w/ spare bulbs as well
-New spark plugs & wires
-Replaced a failing distributor
-New alternator
-New radiator
-New-ish brake pads all around, pretty much 90% pad left
-Replaced rear sway bar bushings
-New CV axles

Pros:
-Engine is still very healthy - pulls strong and revs smoothly
-Interior is in great shape for its age
-Tons of space inside, I transported a toolbox with this car!
-Power driver side bolster / lumbar supports
-Power locks and windows
-Passive immobilizer
-Sun roof
-No rust
-Pop up headlights
-No leaks

Cons:
-Body is not perfect, a couple dents and scrapes
-Driver seat has some damage to the upper left shoulder area - cosmetic in nature only, no tearing in the fabric

This car will make a great and cheap daily driver for a student or commuter. Text or email only.

2006 Volvo V50 T5 AWD Manual wagon for $3300. High mileage and looks like it needs a little bit of work but total unicorn car.
