2006 Volvo V50 T5 AWD Manual wagon for $3300. High mileage and looks like it needs a little bit of work but total unicorn car.
C'mon ... does this really belong here in the 'good buy' if the car has a leaky sunroof and it can't start ?? Is it too much to ask that the engine starts when you turn the key if you want to post here ??!!

The sunroof did have a water leak issue, so it is currently taped shut. The sunroof drain tubes that run down the A-pillars are probably defective. I did this hack job repair out of desperation, as I was out of town and didn't have any tools. So far, it's held up, and there's no more water intrusion, but it's summer time now, so you'd probably want to fix it properly.

The vehicle runs very strong, but it is currently not starting due to the CEM needing to be cleaned and refitted (very common issue on these), hence the low asking price. I'd continue to dabble with this car, but I simply do not have the time as I have newly acquired a full time job. It's already been parked for a week.

Tow it to your place, and spend a few hours fixing all the common issues. This is a sweet ride for the summer.

I think this guy's on crack. Ya sure it's a type R but still... I think that car is in the 5000-7000 range maybe. I'm saying this without any research into what the market is for those cars right now. But I remember when I was on trubobricks 5-6 years ago and I think they were selling for around that.

And the AWD system on those is I believe 70-30 to the front and if the transmission is like any of the other Volvo transmissions it's made of glass.

Right on .... priced WAY too high, don't even know why it was posted in the Good Buy. This thread has really gotten watered down lately.

I had a VW MkIV 1.8T many, many years ago, and purchased a Secured Drive warranty with it. Over the course of my ownership, I've managed to successfully claim multiple items that failed on the VW to the point where I have at least broken even with the amount of money I spent on buying the warranty, if not coming out a little bit ahead. I don't remember the whole list of items that Secure Drive paid for, but the 2 notable ones were:

- some turbo recirculation valve -- this piece of crap actually failed 4x over the course of my 9 year ownership. VW covered it under warranty the first time. Secure Drive paid for it the 2nd and 3rd time, and I paid for it the 4th time since the extended warranty has expired by then.

- some moonroof railing and the associated motor

Because it had been so long ago that I've had that car, I don't actually remember whether Secure Drive only paid for the cost of the failed part, or whether it paid for both the parts and labour cost. One thing that is probably worthwhile to mentioned though -- I bought the VW and the extended warranty from Clarkdale, and during the warranty / extended-warranty period, I have always brought the car back to a Volkswagen dealership for servicing (usually Clarkdale). With a legitimate VW dealership servicing the car and taking care of the extended warranty claim, I'm sure that played a role in affecting how SD was more willing to pay for the failed parts.

I like it, I agree that I see these going up/skyrocketing in the future. That being said, have fun in traffic with that clutch/flywheel combo haha

A stage one exedy organic and 8lb flywheel aren't any different than OEM pedal feel, that clutch can just hold a little bit more torque. If you have your car properly tuned your rev's aren't going to dip under idle either so idk what you are talking about.

The fact you gotta rev it higher every time you wanna move. Just because it feels the same doesn't mean it acts the same. Not sure what the stock flywheel weight it, but anytime you put a light flywheel on it because a bit more of a pain to drive, daily.

I went from a stock clutch to a 500hp/750tq clutch in my old Cummins. My leg didn't get more muscly, but the truck was a lot more chattery in 1st gear.

I had a stage 1 clutch and a prolight flywheel installed in my old Civic hatch. The lightened flywheel was awesome. The RPM's climbed so fast. Had no problems driving it just had shift a bit faster because the RPM's drop as fast as they go up.

This is incorrect. That clutch/flywheel combo does not require revving the car higher to get moving or shifting faster. All that is happening is some rotating weight is removed. I have personally installed that exact clutch and flywheel combo in over 4 Honda/Acura's. A lighter flywheel does not mean reduced drive-ability. These are Honda clutches and flywheels we are talking about, not a heavy duty truck clutch.
