I've driven a 2006 Impala SS which has the same engine and chassis. Yes, it's a boat and FWD, but it's a lot of fun for less than $5K.

That's a pretty awful V8 by today's standard, we have 4 bangs pushing those numbers sans the tq, not to mention V6's, so no I'm not sure what you're getting at.

Nobody knows what you're getting at either... you said the car is awful BESIDES the 300hp V8... indicating that you think the engine is its only positive attribute and therefore answering your own question for a reason to buy it... now you're saying the 300hp V8 is actually awful too.

Make up your mind

04 Lexus is300 with 5 spd and cloth seats. No sunroof as most had them. Only $5k compared to last 5 speed few weeks ago was almost $12k!

Get some nice wheels and address the rust issue mentioned for a good driver. Not the fastest car out there but its a good cruiser, only draw back it requires premium. Many 2jzge are going past 350,000km with no issues

Need advice on a 2003 bmw x5 3.0i
I have an opportunity to buy someones car as she is basically fed up with the repairs. She bought it for 7 grand, has 130k on it, and put another 7 grand in repairs just recently which includes new abs system, water pump, battery, head gasket, valve cover gasket, spark plugs, new perelli winter tires and more (gotta look at the wrap sheet). She's fed up and doesn't want to deal with selling it as a part out because she has absolutely no idea what to do so i might be able to take the car off her hands for next to nothing, 2 grand at the most.

My question is, is this still considered a good buy after you factor in perhaps another 3 or 4 grand in various maintenance and repairs?

As far as i know in terms of common problems for this model are the coolant leak, overflow tank leak, rad fan, cv boot tear and axle crack, power steering leak, rear hydraulic leveling leak, ac recharge, window actuator failure, and sunroof leak.

has low km and she has quite a bit of the work done already.
why not buy it and drive it for the summer, then flip it?

Iirc the x5 3.0 is the same as a 330i/ci/xi - m54b30. If you can do the work yourself, might be a decent buy. Full coolant overhaul with mostly Behr/Bosch parts is $600cad from rock Auto, Power steering resovoir/gasket/hoses are $265 from BMW, shop labour for PS would be 2 hours ish, so $200.

Is it window actuator the same as window regulator? If so, it can be gotten for around $250, cheaper in the states if you can wait. Just don't get dorman.

But all in all, sounds like a nightmare. So unless you're buying it, doing all the work yourself, and using junkyard or the cheapest parts, probably not worth it. But again, depends on your confidence in your wrenching skills

I don't like e46 convertibles, but I think this is mint, Cinnamon interior on Carbon Black Metallic (well mint aside from the mileage).

2001 BMW E46 M3 6SPD - $17,900 - 118,000 miles (190K km)

Quote:
Killer colour combination of Carbon Black Metallic over a Cinnamon partial leather interior. Serviced 2,000 km ago (last season). Selling this and my E36 M3 Convertible to downsize (family!). Please call and ask for Rex.

This 2001 BMW E46 M3 Convertible was sold new in Miami. Florida. CarProof history shows registrations in Florida and Georgia before being imported to Canada. The factory recalls have been done at the BMW Dealership here in Victoria. BC. Canada. The vehicle history is attached at the end of the photographs below. Paintwork is in very good condition with only a couple of small marks. The stance is really strong on this M3 - it's one of the nicest E46 M3 convertibles I've seen to date. Loaded with options and very cleanly upgraded.

Mileage is 118,000 miles from new. most of which is highway driving. Services include the warranty replacement for the crankshaft bearings (recalls done). all the bushings. differential mounts. spark plugs and regular maintenance (oil change every 3,000 miles). Present owner has owned many BMWs and is meticulous about maintaining "like new" condition of his vehicles. It drives like a coupe. which is pretty impressive!

It has some very tasteful modifications, including adjustable KW Variant 2 Coilovers, shorter sway-bar, ROTORA Big Brake Kit (front). Rogue Engineering Exhaust, Touchscreen Kenwood Navigation/Stereo with JL10W6 Subwoofers & twin Rear Screens. Gruppe M Carbon Intake and air filter, 20" IFORGED PERFORMANCE ALLOY Wheels in Carbon Black Metallic, Low profile Achilles tires... At the time they were done at a cost of $3,500 US.

The convertible top is controllable by the key fob - even when the car is off! Also warm up engine lights. once engine is warm. light up and go out as the revs increase like on a race car. Angel eye lights changed to red and white - original whites with the car as well. This car stock is 333 hp which produces around 270 bhp at the wheels. This car has been dyno'd to measure torque and horsepower at the wheels. It rates 293.8 bhp at the wheels. more than 20hp more than stock.

Take it as you like but the owner of that E46 M3 cab works at Silver Arrow (dealer). Hence the dealer type write up and pics. Nice looking car.
