How hard would it be to find a compatible manual tranny for a w124 300td? Ever look into it? I fucking love these cars. |
I'm not sure how hard it would be. First would be finding one, as I'm pretty sure they weren't sold with a manual in North America. In Europe, especially Germany these cars are still common. And only recently have automatics become more common; gotta respect that about Europeans, a CAR has a MANUAL transmission and an AUTOMATIC transmission as an OPTION. If you could somehow source one over there, then ship it here, and if you did the labour yourself, I suppose it could be worth it. But keep in mind, Mercedes are not "mechanics" cars. They are a fucking pain to work on, and there are no apologies for it. They are precision machines designed to be serviced by trained professionals. So making them easy to "tinker" with was never a priority in design. Believe me, I love these cars. I still gasp when I see one on the road. I'm 6'5", and I could fully stretch out in the back, there's so much goddamn room. So classy looking, solid like a tank. But parts costs and lame things like the speakers in the doors, which were amazing in the 90's, but probably blown now, are a weird metric size, and therefore not easily upgradable. Lame. |
91 Volvo station wagon 240 2/3 ain't bad (manual, wagon, turbo) I don't get why people don't put any effort in tidying up their cars before taking pics. |
I'm afraid thats not a turbo, unless its been converted, but it doesn't look like it. still a wagon with a stick is still enjoyable, but slow lol. new blower motor is good cuz its a hell of a job to do, the heater in this thing should be like a sauna all winter long now. |

yeah, the heater fan is a real bear to do on those cars. Which is why the 740 was a better car from a maintenance point of view |
BEAUTUFUL 2004 ACURA TL W/TECH PACKAGE Possibly one of the better condition 3rd generation TL's with lower mileage. |
Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but don't those acura/honda V6 auto's have transmission issues? |
Yea 04's especially I would try to avoid. Some do last depending on maintenance but most don't and a rebuild is probably 3k ish. 07-08 are the only years I would get for TL's if you really want one. |

i thought the clutch on my 2010 TL SH-AWD was very very light, felt like a video game. It was very easy to drive, and very difficult to stall lol. I actually preferred the steering on your generation vs the one i had. The new TL's have a very light steering wheel, which made it feel very numb and unresponsive. Other than that, no complaints. Drove very smoothly, awd, lots of added luxuries too. |
1973 Toyota Celica GT Outside Victoria, Victoria :chairdance: beat, but restored ones seem to go for quite a bit http://www.usedvictoria.com/classifi...t-top_23258451 |
I don't know whether this is a deal or not but the build actually looks decent, so this is a bit interesting. It's Manitoba plated so an out-of-province inspection would likely be in order. 1992 BMW 325is Track Car |
