Man I wish I had the courage and the balls to be different! |
Westopher, I normally appreciate your insight, but come on man...you pick a bunch of their shitty cheap cast wheel to rep what Rotiform is really about? I thought you were more informed about shit like this. Rotiform is owned by MHT, who basically made all the wheels for boutique brands like ADV.1, Pur, etc. They stop making wheels for those companies and bought Rotiform for it's branding. check out their 3 piece forged line, completely custom size, offset, 2pc, 3pc, any finish, deep concave, reverse mount...they can do it all.....I guess all those extreme builds on Speedhunters rocking Roti's are lame.......haha! http://www.rotiform.com/forged-c-4197.htm |
Rotiform has ripped off enough designs in their day that its pretty representative of who they are as a company. Hasn't ADV.1 had tons of controversy and lawsuits about the bullshit they pulled? Funnily enough, heres the first thread that came up when I googled it. :) https://www.revscene.net/forums/6863...pany-joke.html We don't need to have the same taste in wheels. I'll happily buy some old BBS that are played out. You can't seriously deny that about 10 of those roti wheels are straight rip offs. GTBs are copies of old SSR wheels BM1s are copies of old M1 wheels BLQs are exact copies of Gallardo stock wheels DIAs are copies of Diablo/Autostrada wheels DUS are copies of about a million other wheels IDKs are speedline copies. OZT are copies of OZ turbos SJC are copies of old J-lines VCE are copies of Ronal turbos WRO are copies of BBS RF Nothing wrong with liking the designs, but they are so far from creative design. |

I'm telling you the wheels are copies of well established classic wheel designs. I didn't even say I don't like the way they look. They are just the antithesis of creative when it comes to a wheel company. |

I'm sure rotiform are great engineers - and we live in a time of nostalgia and retro looking products, but there is nothing original about any of it. It was cool the first couple of times dudes figured out how to create 3 piece upsized versions of old school OEM wheels. Now it just repeats over and over again. Personally - I love old vintage wheels. I've no interest in these retro interpretations of them. EDIT - the model name of these is FUC?? lol man, how can you defend this as completely custom? it's completely the opposite http://images.rotiform.com/images/wh...ear_A1_300.png |
Dude, being innovative and edgy has more to do with just spoke design, how many wheels companies make every aspect the wheel? Custom light weight barrels? Got em, centerlocks for any wheel? got em, extra lightening of spokes? got em, any candy, transparent, matte, finish? got em, any size and offset? Got em. I had to buy red caps for my lm-r because bbs USA would not change the black ones haha! |

innovative engineering - ok edgy? I don't even know what that means OEM's figure out how to come out with new designs - these guys don't bother. Is there a market? for sure there is. Lots of people want their GTI's to look like a lambo - and all the power to them. It's not original though. EDIT: 1552? company was dope as hell back in my VW days. Brad's project cars were incredible and pushed the watercooled scene forward. Now? no thanks. I'd rather run steelies than a set of tarmacs |
I don't mind Rota, Rotiform, or 1552... after all, poor people need wheels too. |
^^^ all this just because I said I didn't like some people's taste in wheels. You gotta love the internet. tofu and 320i weren't even as bothered by it as much as Z3guy ... go figure. |
If anyone has Neeper Syncros or Niche Bahns for sale pls PM BrokeBack |

My first experience with driving a slow car fast. PS. If anyone's got Mille Miglia's for sale, I want in. |
Everyone has their own taste in wheels. My preference is function before form on performance wheels. Light simple stuff, strong wheel designs and cooling turbines are on my list. Don’t forget the eight spoke. To be frank we like what we like and don’t really care what others think. |

is all about their marketing and videos. Check the euro scene like xs car nights and worthersee, you will see Rotiform definitely dominates the market. Big props to them. I myself had 3 sets of Rotiform before, and love every single one of them. But i can also see people hating their wheels, definitely not everyone's cup of tea. |
Not a good buy, but a buyer beware: https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/bnc/...638877795.html This was my friend's car. Sold it 2 years ago, but i'm pretty sure the odd was at 300k+. It had a paint job, if anyone sees the car, it's the same car if the lower rockers are white. On a stock white miata, the lower rockers are dark, almost like a very dark navy blue. |

Z3guy is an OG. Iirc, his Mshoe was pictured in a yokohama ad back in the day. Z3guy gets a pass for being bothered. |
