i went to mexico about 10 years ago and rented a car.
the car was a early 2000's VW beatle covertable. when i picked it up. it was the first gen beatle. i forgot they kept making it down there.

it is a convertable because the top never goes up. 4 speed manual.

BMW 540i

2000 E39 540i with only 88k, clean title, with service records. Asking 5200 which seems very fair considering most E39's are up for more money; and most have at least double the mileage, rebuilds, or are neglected cars

Seller seems very transparent. VIN is in the ad and the pictures look like they may be at a dealership, possibly trying to sell it privately for a little more than it was appraised for? I'm not looking for an E39 but for someone who is this seems like a good deal.

2006 Miata GT for $9500. It's a steal. I'd jump on it but I'm poking at a red one right now.

Wow that was quick, it was only 36 minutes old when I posted. I wasn't looking for anything in particular but it was the first ad I saw, seemed like a great deal. Might of had to look if it were a 6MT

I didn't think that car was that great of a deal. Sure it has 88km but it has crappy aftermarket lights everywhere. The headlights, taillights, fog lights, and side markers are all cheap aftermarket knockoffs. The navigation unit is also some cheap Chinese made one. And the fake antenna on the roof doesn't make the car any nicer. If the car had all OEM parts and no fake roof antenna, it might be worth it.

People are asking like $10k+ for a 2000+ 6MT one :suspicious:. Wouldn't buying a pre-lci e39 6 speed and just swapping the LCI headlights and taillights just make it the same car?

Lexus Hard Top Convertible - $14900 (North Saanich)
a little bit cheaper, but not local.

That green is one of the rarest SC430 colors you'll ever see.

Red 190e for under 1500, too good to be true?

The power 911 seats are also $. Colour combination is also very desirable. That Boxster is a great deal.

westopher 07-30-2018 08:31 PM

Imagine being faced with the choice of that Lexus SC430 and the Boxster and choosing the Lexus.
I could never see myself in an early Boxster, but sure can appreciate the value they give. Probably better deals these days than Miata's were back when they were the answer to every question.

What's up with the overspray on the rear diff...

TouringTeg 07-30-2018 10:04 PM

Good spot. I think a lot of cars are repaired out of pocket to avoid claims. That or repairs are done in separate claims to keep the amount under $2k.

What worries me is the dealer plates and the used car lot ... just in general never had a good experience

Badhobz 07-31-2018 05:58 AM

I'd still take the sc over this Boxster. The sc track record for reliability is amazing, literally no common mechanical issues to speak of.

I'm waiting for a 2010 MY sc430 as it's the most rare and even has Bluetooth.

The Producer 07-31-2018 08:05 AM

boxsters are a hoot - just as much fun as a 996 C2 I'd say.

I couldn't do a yellow one and I loathe gray interiors though.

If you can find an 03/04 non S you get almost as much car power as the earlier S with more aggressive gearing (it's actually quicker) and the little facelift stuff is nice.

EDIT: man that s2000 is tempting just to "invest" in (as in drive for free for a summer or two)

I'm looovin' it.

JqC 07-31-2018 08:43 AM

What makes the SC430 so desirable? Serious question, as I know nothing about these cars.
