Wagon = qualify for unicorn application
Quick or turbo wagon = unicorn qualification imminent
Manual transmission quick wagon = Unicorn status achieved
Manual transmission quick wagon with no accidents = froth at mouth unicorn status

tofu1413 09-01-2018 08:20 AM

^ something like that

Badhobz 09-01-2018 08:41 AM

whhaaatttt? in that case anyone can drop in their local VW dealer, pick up a manual 6speed awd sportwagen and have it loaded to tits for under 30k.

:alonehappy:

tofu1413 09-01-2018 09:20 AM

rarely a dealer will stock a 6MT wagon as no one drives stick anymore.. usually a factory ordered car.

snowfarmer 09-01-2018 10:50 AM

and it’s rare to have a manual on top tier trim levels (outside BMW/VW), usually manuals are only brought in by dealers on the base models and the fancy trim levels are autotragic.

That adds to the unicornishness (is that even a word? It is now!) of that Outback wagon, it’s a high trim level.

Does this qualify?

2004 V70R, 300hp, manual, 160K kms, $11K (Personally, I think the price is a way too high, maybe $7-8K would make it interesting)

And on top of that, it's the Outback version, slightly lifted equals off road hooning with a turbo motor stick shift.

The insurance is way cheaper too compared to its WRX counter part.

I dare to say that this is on par or more rare than a 2008 Subaru Forester XT stick shift in the WRB color

snowfarmer 09-01-2018 01:34 PM

Yes, it’s got a liberal dose of unicorn tax. And that interior looks pretty ratty, the ad mentions the drivers seat worn but look at the leather on the passenger side rear seat, it’s sagging and blown out too. That car looks like it has been ridden hard and put away wet.

I still keep my eyes peeled for a nice example of an ‘08 Saab 9-3 Aero X Sportcombi with a manual, that’s the unicorn that i’ll buy, no matter how many cars I currently have in the fleet.

Not a 9-3 but a 9-2x ... WRX in Saab clothing (better looking than that year's WRX). Originally thought it was listed high but it is actually quite reasonable and qualify for a CL good buy!

05 Saab 9-2x, manual, looks really well kept and maintained, 155K kms, tastefully modded (Cobb Stage 2, sways front and rear, Koni shocks, lowered springs, exhaust, nice wheels,) $8K

6mt, 113k, s-line trim, clean title

New tires. Alloy wheels. AC is perfect. Power windows, mirror, etc. Interior in great shape. Sound system is amazing. Clear title, no accidents.

Sold by owner. Test drive this car and you will fall in love...

snowfarmer 09-01-2018 10:56 PM

and the wagon lyfe hits keep coming. Not necessarily a great deal (pretty hefty unicorn tax) but I see your A3 wagon and raise you by a Manual, diesel, BMW wagon. The place selling it looks shady AF though...

dorian 09-02-2018 11:09 AM

I know the owner of that dealership, yes the place looks shady but he is a good guy that only sells rare vehicles but his prices are always over the top, and he doesnt stock a lot of vehicles so he doesnt really need a big lot.

but again the price is waaaaay over the top for what it is

tofu1413 09-02-2018 02:04 PM

yeah, splendid auto has one of the most unusual inventories in town.

very cool cars. owner pretty straight shooter guy. of course pricing is up there as well.

I remember the pair of alpina B10 bi turbos he had... those were sick cars.

snowfarmer 09-02-2018 03:29 PM

Thanks for clarifying, when I google streetviewed Splendid Auto, the exterior appearance of the place wasn't confidence inspiring. Can't judge a book by it's cover.
