Disclaimer -- I know the seller.

The price is certainly high for a 987.1. By my own estimate, a stock 987.1 of similar mileage would probably only ask for $35 - $38k, and this one is asking for quite a bit more than that. Of course, as an enthusiast keen on having functional and tasteful mods, I see a lot of value in the work that the owner did on the car. And knowing the owner, I know no expense was spared, and good stuff / good work was used on the car. I've seen the car in person in the past as well, and it was beautiful.

Would have loved to take over the car and enjoy it for a few years. Unfortunately, my current situation just wouldn't allow for that.

i think this has been for sale quite some time?

Was someone interested in a Saab Sportcombi wagon? Here's an 09 Saab 9-3 2.0T Sportcombi wagon (disregard the newb salesperson who posted this, it's a 9-3), $6999.

The Sportcombi is my unicorn but it’s got to be a 6MT Aero (the 2.8l V6 Turbo). One day I’ll find one.

^ $15,000 USD... it's in Sumas... be upwards of $25k by the time it's landed here for a 90's BMW with a hacked drivetrain that doesn't even have a photo? Good buys thread? LOL

bcrdukes 09-08-2018 07:32 AM

Good bye thread

2000 M5, 155,000KM for $25K. Wish I had bought one a few years ago when they bottomed out at $20K or so, now they're going for $30K+ for the most part.

Seems odd to drop $12.1k on a car and then only drive it 5500 km before selling it.

320icar 09-08-2018 12:28 PM

Very easy to drop 12k on an e39 simply on maintainance, since it’s a 18 year old car.

Edit: the producer can chime in lol

Look at the spreadsheet, though, specifically from February 2016 on. A significant chunk of that $12k isn’t maintenance. And it’s only been driven 5500 km in the past 2 years. All the work since 2016 has been in Victoria (was all on lower mainland prior to that), so I’m guessing that’s when he purchased it.

Just seems odd to me to purchase, modify, and sell a car after 2 years and 5500 km with that significant of an investment.

320icar 09-08-2018 01:25 PM

Oh I gotcha, didn’t see the spreadsheet. Yeah those are painfully inflated prices. Greens is expensive, but no dunce pays $3000 on getting wheels refinished. That’s actually ~$700 lol.

This looks like a better deal than the $11K V70R with the bagged out interior that was posted previously..

It is also on a similar platform as the Euro Spec ford focus RS of this vintage!

You'd be surprised.. when I sold mine a year ago, mine was the cheapest 01+ (facelift) @ 27k. It looks months to sell, and I only had a few serious offers @~21k. It eventually sold for $25, but it took a while. All this to say that when I look at the inflated e39/e46 market, I take it with a grain of salt now

Pretty comfy when driven normally as a DD. Downright visceral when you turn on the 'advanced' mode and let it rip.

tofu1413 09-10-2018 12:25 PM

that 5 cylinder motor has a very distinct tone that you don't hear a lot nowadays....

cool car for the money.
