I think at this point you may want to stay away, unless the price is so rock bottom. I'd think it'd be really difficult to rack up $20,000.00 in damages in one front end accident and not damage anything structural...

knight604 10-31-2014 06:23 PM

Well it still depends when the damage happened , early 2005 or last year? That could affect the numbers.. (correct me if im wrong)

TurboFC3S 10-31-2014 06:35 PM

ill take a look at it on the weekend if its not sold, get it inspected and let you guys know whatsup.

If it was for a $10k claim when it was new, I could pass it off as expensive parts for a fender bender but imo, $20k for that car, would have to be substantial.

knight604 10-31-2014 06:49 PM

20 is a stretch... forgot how much they were new.

Hmm... I wonder how much stuff you have to damage in order to rack up a $20k repair bill... :suspicious:

flagella 10-31-2014 07:00 PM

$20k I would be concerned, but seriously $10K is nothing. A minor fender bender accident on my old s2k exceeded $10K. It impacted fender and door. Paint blending cost a lot, plus new door, new fender, one headlight, and repaint of all wheels to match the paint.

LC21 10-31-2014 07:25 PM

It doesnt have a rebuild title for the most part. I almost pulled the trigger on the sti as well until someone else told me about the claims.

Gerbs 10-31-2014 07:32 PM

What's a fair price for one without claims? ^

Oscar_Binswood 10-31-2014 07:33 PM

When I spoke to the seller, he stated both accidents were front end collisions. One of which ICBC almost didn't cover. From what I understood there were some modifications/parts removed when he installed the intercooler, resulting in more damage when the crash occurred.

Some other concerns he stated was the CEL is on, no aircare, needs new tires soon, some sort of defect with the after market rotors, and an idle issue if I remember correctly.

Seller was upfront with all these issues over the phone.

If a guy is only wanting a winter beater out of it I would jump on it.

But I mean winter beater as in living in a place that gets an actual winter and will make full use of the awd.
Not vancouver.

depending on mileage , how well its kept on maintenance / molested , i would give it 17-22

Gucci Mane 10-31-2014 07:41 PM

yeah the $20k hit is enough to make me say :heckno: and back away. $10k hit is honestly not a whole lot.

fliptuner 10-31-2014 07:45 PM

I'm going to ASSume this is the same car, front-end hit w/o rebar.

20k front end damage?

Perfect candidate for a tube front race car

underscore 10-31-2014 09:45 PM

Having 2 front end accidents would be a concern for me, that front end could be quite the pretzel by now.

see.lai 10-31-2014 10:37 PM

lol accidents can cost quite a bit for the little damage that may occur..
10k damage on an sti doesn't sound much.. 20k however..

vitaminG 11-01-2014 10:48 AM

I think the price already takes the accidents and work needed into consideration. 12.5 with those mods and fairly low miles is pretty damn cheap. If there's no frame damage I'd definitely buy it.
