355hp and a 3.8? No other details on the engine swap and pix taken in a shop.

Also, that looks like a 986, which they stopped in 2004.

eh?

tofu1413 09-21-2018 12:07 PM

no way.. 3.8L boxster for that cheap?

vitaminG 09-21-2018 12:20 PM

Not cheap, but this thing looks mint

datsun 260z/240z - $18000 (fraser valley)

https://images.craigslist.org/00G0G_...o_1200x900.jpg

Funnel 09-21-2018 01:38 PM

1. It looks like a 986 which only made to 2004
2. Missing S badge (first picture)
3. It looks like 5 speed just like all non-S 986 (pictures 5)
4. There is no 3.8L engine in 986 unless engine swap from 997 but keep the 5 speed while engine swap?

Conclusion: The poster doesn't know anything about 986, or just a fake ad.

That Boxster looks fishy.

snowfarmer 09-21-2018 04:41 PM

you're right, fail post. The lack of plates led me to do a google image search which didn't turn up any results so I posted it up. Always possible the owner doesn't know much about cars hence the errors but there are too many incongruities, probably a fake :okay:

Clearly not a real ad. That bodystyle ended 2004 and there is no way you are getting a swapped 3.8L for that money either. Then you consider it's a Surrey ad...

agreed, if that thing had the timing chain done it would be a lot more attractive proposition. It's a cool car but the price is high even factoring in it's rarity and color.

who 3M's the hood but not the front bumper? Would lead me to think the bumper has been resprayed? That and the story on the wheels, when I hear about a couple of curb rubs, I get it, sh*t happens but who repeatedly scrapes the wheels on the curb so many times that the best option is to throw them out? That tells me whoever drove this car was not being overly attentive to it.

but hey, what do I know, I get fooled by shady Boxster ads on CL.

I got really concerned when I did a CTRL+F and didn't find a mention of the timing chain on that page at that price LOL

As to clear bra, dealers in Ontario seem to be really pushing the half hood clear bra - the idea is to avoid rust/corrosion on the leading edge of the hood.

The front bumper usually isn't done not only because it's plastic and can't rust, but also because it's usually a more complicated panel and costs quite a bit more.

ap2 s2000 priced better than most, but not sure about the accident claim amount though

https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/van/...705507246.html

That S2000 was for sale a while back and I think I remember someone on here looking at it and saying it was rough.

saving time for anyone who is interest of this car.
accident(unknown amount of the claim) theft recovery, us import and rebuilt status

whitev70r 09-23-2018 07:56 PM

If you can pull codes on CEL and it's a simple exhaust fix, this would be a pretty cheap pick up. Maybe take the opportunity to upgrade exhaust.

If you prefer manual, this one is decent too, for the year. 2009 and after, the engine went to TFSI which is suppose to be better than 06-08 FSI.

For someone who spent so much time typing out such a long as post, they sure as hell goofed up when they listed it as a clean title car...

Assuming the claims history isn't too colorful, the 2011 MY is probably the one to have. I'd probably prefer to not have an xDrive vehicle, but at least its a manual. I really wish the running costs for these cars were a bit lower, since they're such performance bargains used.

TouringTeg 09-23-2018 08:08 PM

D*ck move to skip the title status field on purpose and not admit that the car is a rebuild.

Tofu has an 06 s2000 137kms in the low 20s. Normal title.

whitev70r 09-23-2018 08:14 PM

^ ... yup, and then chastises people for asking questions through email. Status is one of the most important piece of info for a car.

jaaagman 09-23-2018 08:23 PM
