Kinda rough but rare 03 Ford Focus SVT 5 door. 6 speed getrag manual. Could be fun for $4500

dunno if good buy in that condition. looks well used - 320Iancar will be able to tell us, he just bought one.

I feel like mine would have to have the euro appearance pack recaros - but that might not be an 03 thing. don't know much about these cars

TouringTeg 10-13-2018 08:21 PM

I had no idea there was a 5 door SVT until now.

320icar 10-13-2018 09:12 PM

5 door are rare, though most prefer the look of the 3 door. Euro appearance pretty much only was different Recaro seats (much uglier IMHO, look like generic black leather seat swap from a different car), a plain grill with no turn signals, and proper projector headlights with built in turns.

Price is a bit high since the paint is rough, and I assume no maintinance history. But I love driving the red SVT we picked up, and often choose it over my RS. Braking and turn in is fantastic. Gearing is a bit odd and makes the car feel slow (redline in 2nd is about 115km/h, modern cars would be about 100kmh) but it’s in no way a slouch. I love it

nsx042003 10-13-2018 09:37 PM

i remember those SVTs were just as fast as an EP3. because that's what we used to race back then. I'd pay a bit more and get the rsx s

320icar 10-13-2018 10:23 PM

No question an ep3, SiR or rsxS would be a better car to drive, and on all accounts faster and be easier to diy repair and way more mods and reproduction parts etc. It all just depends what you want.

For example: the clutches have been NLA from ford only 3 years after they stopped production. Good luck trying to find the oem forged internals if you need to do a rebuild

welfare 10-13-2018 11:36 PM

Speaking of ep3's... $800

any major differences over the years on 128i's? anything wrong with 08's or 09's?

Any of you guys check this one out yet? I'm meeting with him later today to see but he dropped his price which is a bit odd to me

Met with this guy last night, he was asking 6, now he's asking 5.

-Smoker, so the interior smells like smoke.
-There's an aftermarket alarm installed previously but the owner doesn't have any info.
-front passenger tire has a chunk missing
-had a bunch of red stripping and reside on the front end evident from the headlights and foglight areas
-hood is loose
-oil seems to be seeping from the valve cover
-bunch of other little things, but it's not clean enough for me

-Variable valve timing system
-Diff mounts
-Turbo seals

there's a reason why you don't see a lot of them left, same with the cx-7 which shares a lot of the components.

The main issue is a loud rattle from the timing system. Very common issue and almost always the main culprit that forces someone to sell the car

bcuzracecarz 10-14-2018 03:40 PM

I always get hesitant when smaller dealers post cars that require maintenance without imploding.
Especially when there are 2 pics of motors, not even related to one another. That's a lot of kms for that motor too, they usually take a beating and that awd system isn't the strongest, seal leaks errywhere

Check "Buying a MS6" in the Mazda tech section.

I made a thread there 2 years ago when I was looking for my first car. There's plenty of responses in that thread.

Tl;Dr: Zoom zoom boom

Edit: it's the same motor in the Ford's iirc, 2.3L turbo

Don’t think so. Unless it’s some euro motor that never came here. Ecoboost never had a 2.3 until the mustang and foRS and they’re vastly different

^ what makes that a series 2?

Retrac 10-14-2018 08:55 PM

Think main difference is that Series 2 came with Mark Levinson sound system, navigation, back up camera.

It's a very cluttered dealership. I used to drive by it all the time.
