-Mark | love these cars - great daily. I *think those are sport seats. Bluetooth and the ski rack. Just needs a set of snows to be a great year round car. Totally agree with your assessment - this is as close an experience I've ever driven to an e36 in all the best ways.
Somebody buy this!

Yup - sport seats, rare on a 128 and nice to have. Mine has the base seats and they suck... Recaros up next haha.

I had an S2000 a few years ago so I am qualified to compare the two cars. The Cayman is more balanced, more powerful and feels like a more solid car overall.

There are a handful of places that can integrate the m3 electronics into a 128 - in addition to the motor and transmission, you need its key system, ECU, and body modules (think $2500 on top of a $15k motor/trans combo). Then you pay $5k usd for the reprogramming. Now you’re home free except for the driveshaft, subframe, diff, and axles. I basically don’t think you could do it for $25k cdn - it’s disgusting. #bmw

-Mark | Curious why one may do this over an easily purchased 135i? Cause V8?

-Mark | Yep, I also looked into it. It turned from hey that's fucking awesome how can I do that, to oh fuck wife would definitely kill me.
One can dream though. And i'll definitely be dreaming about it when i go look at the car Thursday.
Anything i should be aware of when looking at the 1 series? aside from the fact if i dont fit comfortably in the drivers seats i wont be getting it #fatassproblems

That's why I sold mine, at that km you're easily looking at $5k+ worth of work that needs to be done down the road. Timing chain guides, clutch, vanos, oil leaks, cooling system, then the valley pan gasket. This is all engine stuff before misc stuff like suspension, bushings, window regulators that fail. Quote:

To do a proper swap you'd need a full donor E9X M3
that V8 in the shorter chassis will really make a proper car out of it
