Edit: Price must've been justified, pending sale everyone.

Nope. Be quiet. G37 is far superior in all aspects

The evo is a windshield banner away from being on the cover of a fast and furious movie.

Evo X not as flashy as current FK8 R or the VA STi...

but keep in mind the Evo's origins has roots to the old Group A race cars formula.

The Evo 6 was a roll cage and stripped interior away from competition!

In Victoria, there are actually 4+ CTR FK8 owners that are over 50.. probably even over 60.. there are about 8 units on the island.. i guess it makes them look younger! lol

Lol that Evo only has 290hp? Jesus..

25k plus taxes for an 11 year old car that makes you look like you’re stuck in 2003.

You could buy a newer G37 etc with more horsepower, nicer interior and styling and you don’t look like a clown driving it for 8-10k less.

Lancer is an econobox, Evolution is boy racer and I'm partial about Mitsubishis in general

BUT it has rally pedigree, factory Recaros and brembos

300tq at mid-range and 300hp from a 2L turbo is nothing to scoff at was more than adequate to compete with the rival rally cars

and your suggested alternative is a rebadged Skyline that handles like a boat attracting the typical budget baller buddy guys...so much for your clown statement

if 25k is overpriced for a clean low milage, unmolested example of a revered sports compact that's long out of production...it wouldn't have gone pending/sold after a few days

welfare 11-04-2018 12:42 PM

people really seem to care a lot about the demographic of a vehicle huh.
Almost as much as the vehicle itself.

Hondaracer 11-04-2018 12:44 PM

Saying a luxury sedan handles like a boat is kind of a moot point.. I'd argue Nissans V6 in the inifitys is a far more tested and reliable engine than a 2.0L turbo stretched to its limit out of the box.

While i dont know too much about the motor, i know all about the potential of a 2.0L engine as i had a 2.0L B18C5 for a few years.. the old saying always applies, theres no replacement for displacement.

Its a limited run fan boy car which is why it drew the asking price, its not like its some gem in high demand.

Swear people talk around here like you're driving up pikes peak on a daily basis, there is almost no where to utilize the ability that a rally inspired car offers.

Badhobz 11-04-2018 01:00 PM

Nissan vq engines have proven to be quite reliable. It's just their CVT that's a friggin nightmare.

^^what about the oil consumption tho?

There are replacements for displacement. Namely technology, engine speed, compression, and/or forced induction.

I've anecdotally noticed some timing chain related issues with the VQ35DE now that they're getting up there in age (i.e. Quest, Altima)

Back when i was into working on cars we had relatively easy access to a dyno, my 2.0L b18C5 with a $700 edelbrock intake mani and full exhaust system headers back, catless, plus whatever intake i was running at the time was a gain of like fuck.. 22HP with a tune using a chipped ECU and chrome?

buddies 5.0 mustang saw a 34HP gain from straight pipes and a cone filter that cost like 1/4 of my stupid bolt ons

You cant tell me there is room for gains on a 2.0L engine making 280HP FACTORY TUNED, unless your throwing in new turbos etc. its the definition of diminishing returns

Turbo cars are usually pretty conservatively tuned from the factory, which also has to keep into account emissions (hence Subie torque dip...)

The VW EA888 1.8 and 2.0 are pretty legendary for their chip only gains, but it seems like the Evo X has got decent gains from a reputable tuner.

+60hp, +83hp from chip only

Browsing through the AMS catalogue...

Intake +50whp
Turbo back exhaust incl. DP and hi flow cat +50whp
Intercooler and piping +20whp

About $3k USD.

didn't you say the Cayman has no soul, BRZ is a joke, S2000/Miata are for clowns and not real driver's car

you can't say you'll only settle for an Aventador and 458 then come back and recommend a G37 :ilied:

hmm interesting... are we looking at the same thing?

The tune in my link says "60+HP increase by simply plugging into your OBD2 Port!", "You can expect 60+HP gains with this simple yet extremely effective modification! This is an easy, plug and play modification that anyone can quickly install or remove. No wire cutting/splicing or tools of any kind are required."
