Recommendations for around 15k?

Could you get into a decent 4th gen TL at that price point?

Basically my current truck is on its last legs and I’m either going to spend 15k on a reliable car that will retain some value, or I’m going to buy a brand new truck if I can get the right pricing

This is amazing. It's worth whatever the buyer is willing to pay. I would much rather have an immaculate automatic base to start with than a rusted out manual shell.

This is so tempting... so much potential.

If I had the garage space I'd totally buy that civic. If it really is as clean as it sounds, it would be a good clean shell to start from. Swap in a period correct B16 or something and it'll be perfect. Worth it compared to those other rust bucket civic's with high kms selling for 3k.

Agree. Slim picks as the years go on. Clean unmolested original condition cars from that era aren't common place. We laugh now but they'll be worth something in the future as everything else becomes electric and automated.

Also:

Not really a good buy, just hilarious.

Might be able to squeeze in a 4G TL that's FWD but I doubt you'll find a good SH-AWD one. A 2G TSX is doable, maybe even a V6 one. The 1G TSX is totally possible - most sell for less than $10K now. A 2012-2015 Mazda 6 could be a good one.

Saw this 2010 Acura TSX on autoTRADER.ca's iPhone app
http://www.autotrader.ca/go/19-10939773

J35 without the possible issues in the SH-AWD transmission, although you’ll have to settle for 5-speed V6 fuel economy and torque steer.

watch out for oil consumption issues on the 3.7L TL (SH-AWD's). The FWD versions should be ok (3.5L)

Buick Regal AWD 2.0t. 20” wheels look great, turbo motor makes something like 300hp. Pretty nice interior, overall I say it’s an under rated vehicle. Even has brembo calipers

vvvvv edit: as funnel points out, rebuilt. Dang it

When I was a kid I thought this was the same car as the one in BTTF.
I also struggled to understand why it didn't have gullwing doors like the one in the movie.
