you're kind of hard on him - it's listed as a deficiency. I appreciate the honesty.

these things are still huge piles of shit, but at least the manual gets rid of the junk GM auto trans. Guarantee it has cracked rear springs, dodgy plastic transfer case gears, disintegrating body grounds, a leaky oil filter housing and VCG and water pouring in through the rear door vapour bariers.

kill it with fire :drunk:

A 28 year old 1.6L Miata with a worn interior is nowhere near worth 7-8k even with the sunny weather premium.

twitchyzero 02-07-2019 08:25 PM

the NB SE fetches like 10k+ USD, i think a non-rusty NA SE in an iconic colour can do well

That TT seems like a lot of car for the money if all the safety gear is still valid and it's compliant with whatever CARS requires, but there's no way you're going to get it through an inspection and have a BC reg for it. I don't know how useful that makes it out here since I think cars have to have road plates and insurance for the transits, someone more involved with that stuff would know if there's a workaround for that or not.

I sold my 97 NA with the more desirable 1.8 associated goodies (engine + brakes etc.) in spring 2016 for $5700 and I thought I came out on top. Hardtop included. The car had just been given a thorough detail and the paint was excellent.

Regardless, $4000 for the 91 BRG with hardtop is a decent deal. Still not what I would consider a steal, especially not at $7-8k.

twitchyzero 02-07-2019 09:23 PM

that buyer picked up a nice one!

i think SE etc. miatas have climbed a bit in value since, mind you not porsche/s2000/e30 tax because they made like a billion of them, but most of the ones you can buy for a few thousand are rusted

Considering I just bought a vehicle, now the smoking deals come along. This was posted on Facebook for $8000. I’m on the island but I may stop in on the way home. I’m worried my Rav won’t carry the tongue weight.

The extreme cold does nothing besides preserve it. It's the salt that murders all.

Tossed a battery in my 86 at -40 and she fired right up when I had to get it on the trailer

That car has been for sale for at least 2 years. Obviously must have issues or it would have sold a long time ago

hud 91gt 02-08-2019 05:43 PM

It’s a vastly overpriced abolishment of a nice sports car. That’s why. Lol

westopher 02-08-2019 08:09 PM

it’s a 35k 911, with a fibreglass update, a fucking high school bass competition stereo system instead of a full interior and is 28k more than an newer, 10x more desirable, lower mileage version of the same car with a well written ad.
I’d say there’s something wrong with it.

hud 91gt 02-08-2019 08:52 PM

Amen

tofu1413 02-08-2019 11:33 PM

ebay racing seats in an old 911... cringe worthy.

SkunkWorks 02-09-2019 06:26 AM

Lol. I should list mine for $70,000. Mine'll seem like such a good buy, and thus worthy of this great thread, in comparison.

I know the 1.6/1.8 debate is all over the place, but I don't think I was/am alone in the camp of wanting the 1.6.
On top of that, the 91 BRG SE is the cherry on top and specifically the car I was looking for.

And the way Miata sales happen so fast sometimes, it's hard to pinpoint an average price range.
When I bought mine last summer, I had already tried to buy four others but couldn't get there in time -- each sold within a day or two of posting.

That said, I think most people (myself included) are content with waiting for one to come around $4,000 or less. The ones listed for $7,000 plus might be pristine, but only a couple points ahead of the cheaper ones that can be fixed up easily -- or just happily kept as-is.
