Honda to revive the S2000 in a mid-engine turbocharged motor

"The mid-size Honda S2000 replacement will be the last of Honda's three new sports cars to arrive and it's expected to go on sale in 2017 for around £35,000. The new Honda NSX is expected to arrive by the first part of 2015, making it the first of the new models to go into production."

I believe they are referring to the CTR.

How can they call that an S2000 when it has nothing in common with the old one? If the design evolves over the years sure, but you can't make a completely different vehicle out of the blue and give it the same name.

bomiheko 05-14-2014 10:50 AM

This looks more like a spiritual successor to the Toyota MR2, too bad not same company. :P

jinxcrusader 05-14-2014 03:49 PM

Reminds me of a cr-z

BBMme 05-14-2014 04:39 PM

I'm just happy honda is finally doing exciting projects again. I might even consider to buy a honda if they keep it up.

dared3vil0 05-14-2014 04:52 PM

Cars looks great, just the name makes zero sense. Would be kinda like Toyota calling the FRS a Miata.

Under the skin of the new Honda S2000, we’ve been told to expect a revised version of the 2.0-litre 350bhp turbo engine, which will power the next generation Honda Civic Type R.

Some hybrid tech - developed in conjunction with the McLaren Formula 1 team - should also feature and it's set to allow for 0-62mph in around five seconds, but with an economy of around 40mpg.
:notbad:

would be cool if the S660 sporty Kei car came to NA

flagella 05-14-2014 10:17 PM

Meh, I'll remain cautiously optimistic about this. I loved my S2000 and have every intention of owning one in the future again if the situation allows.

Z3guy 05-15-2014 07:01 AM

no one will be caring about the looks if the "classic" Honda performance is there........

multicartual 05-15-2014 12:09 PM

2017 model?

Anyone want to guess on the calendar when Honda's 2017 model will be up for sale?

This is going to be my next car

rcoccultwar 05-15-2014 08:56 PM

I got my 2013 FR-S in June 2012, although it should of been May. So maybe some added value for you.

Pretty cool car although it took like, forever.. wonder if this will be similar to the late 80's when the new CRX and NSX coincidentally made Honda blast off! With such limited opportunities in Vancouver gotta think this way :(

alf 05-17-2014 09:00 AM

its about time honda put some better cars in their lineup
