holland ship, its like going to parker place

PinkMuffin 05-15-2014 09:57 AM

expect to gain weight. bring a jacket to see icebergs ( its only going to be like 1-3 degrees) also it might rain in the towns that they drop you off at. also youre going to have to dress up formally for some dinners. otherwise, it's pretty fun if you have a companion with you (other than your parents)

speediandy 06-12-2014 02:57 PM

Yeah make sure you have someone fun going with you. You can sign up for excursions and lots of expensive things to do/see. It's a lot of fun. You will eat a LOT! do bring some formal clothes for dinners/shows on the boat.

If your looking to just relax, and not spend/do much, you can also just spend the days by the pool too.

Unlimited 3 course fine dining dinner every night. You can get 2 appy, 2 entree, 2 dessert, or whatever you like to eat. I usually give a $10 tip to waiter+server on 1st night knowing I will pig out.

Did you guys bring / tip with CAD or USD?

Everything in USD.

All I did was gamble for 7 days.

:lol

You barely need a jacket to see the iceberg (from the ship anyways) It's so damn warm at this time of the year. I've been on an Alaskan cruise 4 times now, and while being on the boat is alright, Alaska is so boring.

Fun things to do if you like outdoor stuff though, such as kayaking and river rafting.

sonick 07-16-2014 08:28 AM

Ya, unless you book shore excursions, there really is little to see and do in port besides cheesy tourist trap shops. The views on the ship are nice though.

Special K 07-16-2014 11:47 AM

Isn't most shops at the port owned by the cruise company?

Alaska cruise is boring. Bring Gravol if you get sea sick.

after your alaskan cruise, take a cruise from florida to the caribbean .

party , drink then gamble all day.

How many of you got travel insurance?

Also, where did you guys book the cruise?

Nvasion 07-17-2014 09:33 PM

all I did was gamble there also, won a few poker tournys so it wasn't bad.

as for the weather I thought it was going to be cold but all you need is like a t shirt and a hoody and you will be fine. everyday was low 20's.

when the ship docks and let you walk around town it is actually very boring unless you do the excursions ( which I did not do because they were quite expensive )

I booked my cruise from Holland America website.

I ship I was on was the MS Zaandam ( decent boat but the pools were very small )

Random bump but any good deals for Sept for cruises to Alaska or know websites that I should be using (other than google searches).

yray 08-22-2014 07:24 AM
