The standard for these BMWCCBC events are 50-60 runs.

Limited to 30 cars, not timed, paid course workers so you literally run the course from 8:30am-4:30pm, with an hour break for lunch.

i'd divide that number by 5 compared to a full course, thats just me

westopher 07-06-2015 05:36 PM

That is just you, because thats not how math works. 70 runs on a 1/2 pad = 35 runs on a full pad.
Although a well setup half pad can actually get you as long of lap times as full pad with the figure 8s.

Yeah I don't know how the math works in his world but 70 runs on a half pad usually equals 35 runs on a full pad as you said.

I look at it this way, $165 for the day, divide by 70 = $2.3 per run.
I found half pad is pretty decent sized course anyhow, easy to learn and perfect by the end of the day.

:lawl:

maybe, but just the number of elements and difficultly level of this is fairly low, hence the divide by 5

1 sweeper and 7 or so offsets.. not exactly learning a lot

Hey I have an idea! If you don't like the idea or the value don't go to an event!

Heres som early day footage of me at the ridge. I was running around 2:10-2:13 for the footage that I got, but felt a little faster later in the day after the gopro died. I need to get more confident in using more of the track on exits and get my shift points a little better. Had a great day, and look forward to getting better. I cut the day short after the temp gauge climbed past half. The 350KM trip home can get you really shaky :lawl:

Your E36 M3 doesn't support OBD2 yet, does it? If it does, it would be quite easy to tap into the OBD2 port to get an ECT (engine coolant temp) reading. That way, you wouldn't have to second guess how hot the car is running from just looking at the idiot gauge.

westopher 07-06-2015 08:02 PM

Yeah obd2 is 96+. Mine is a 98. My OBD2 reader only pulls codes and whatnot, but perhaps one that connects to my phone would be a nice addition for days like this.

Nice driving!

Oh man i'd love to do some lapping with you at some point. Would be interesting to how our cars stack up seeing as the similar lap times...\

Plans to attend any other track days this season?

Just a few readings that it's able to pick up

Need to monitor the readings while I'm driving up sea 2 sky yo

westopher 07-06-2015 09:23 PM

I think I'd like to go to pacific with VCMC. Doing all 3 tracks near here is a great season IMO. Like everything else on earth though, its all dependent on time and money.

duy- 07-06-2015 09:33 PM

running with Curt
saw you on the track westopher, looked good

westopher 07-06-2015 09:39 PM

Duy I was going to come say hey but got confused who you were in the sea of corollas. You looked great out there.

duy- 07-06-2015 09:45 PM

I was the non ugly one

duy- 07-07-2015 03:06 PM

ugh feels like I'm spamming now but here's a vid with a lot of revscene guys including you westopher. wish you guys wouldn't point by so soon, it's fun to just drive behind people you know
i was shaking my head because we agreed on 3 laps before the yellow ITR pointed me by... he forgot

westopher 07-07-2015 03:13 PM

Funny you say that, because once I pointed you by I was actually having the best time I had all day. You were a lot of fun to try and keep up to. I don't want to be the guy holding anyone up either. I was stuck behind someone later in the day and it was getting really frustrating. I'm not the type to really get on someones ass either, so maybe I was going unnoticed.

trollguy 07-07-2015 03:22 PM

having the best time all day while behind him?:whistle::whistle:

ahh well I've done plenty of track days with strangers, it's a lot more fun to run with people you know or are familiar with. I don't mind running 2:10 for half the day, I actually did for about 3 heats. there's plenty of time to go for your hot lap, there's 7 heats that I only did 6 of anyways.

I figured it was the driver that was getting fatigued rather than the car, good choice to call it quits early as it got scorching hot much later. :hotbaby:

Consider getting an E-fan and larger radiator with the upgraded water pump, does wonders for the E36!
