You do the e36 proud man. Nice driving. |
wow that's a really tight track. as in, small. not in the sense of DAMN TAHTS AWESOME but it does look pretty fun maygbe |
That track is an ITR owners dream. Must visit! |
^ Really want to get my ITR on VIMC (Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit). I read the Speed Fanatics site but didn't find the answers to these questions: Can I sign up for the next one day session @ VIMC with Speed Fanatics? If so what is the cost for the day? |
Found this on their FB Speed-Fanatics is working exclusively with the Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit to bring you a lapping day experience in this first class facility. Registration Fees is $550 Early bird special rate of $525 if registered before Apr 1st. (for this past event). https://www.facebook.com/events/278854562557330/ sign up link Speedfanatics' VIMC Experience 270517 info on May 27, 2017 (652708) | MotorsportReg.com |
If you look at the this Speed Fanatics link: Speed Fanatics Upcoming Events The Motorsport Reg links for both their Sat, May 27 and Sat, Sept 2 are there. I had the good fortune of driving at VIMC this past weekend with the Speed Fanatics as well, and the track is absolutely phenomenal. Apparently, it is designed by the same engineering firm that came up with COTA, Red Bull Ring, Sepang, etc. So despite the venue's smaller size, it absolutely does not disappoint. This is a world class track as far as fun factor is concerned, and all associated facilities are top notch as well. IMO, the track is perfect for something light and nimble like a Miata, ITR, Elise, etc. The track flows well but is extremely technical. The dramatic elevation changes combined with the wide variety of banking is what sets this track apart from any other in the PNW. (That and how VIMC seems to be the only CW-running track that I can think of in the PNW.) The tight and involving infield erases most of the power advantage from the high HP cars, and the front and back straights are connected by two high speed turns where handling balance is still crucial. If anyone were to google VIMC March 19 or something, I'm sure you'll find plenty of videos from this past weekend by now. For what it is worth, here is mine where I spent a good chunk of time playing with a beautiful Cayman GT4: For those who are considering to try VIMC out with the Speed Fanatics in May, it seems like registration is filling up rather quickly, with 25 out of 36 spots already gone. There is no doubt that the VIMC event runs on a noticeably higher cost compared to regular track days, especially when you have to factor in the cost of the ferry ride as well. However, for someone who has never been to this track before, I think it is perfectly justifiable to consider this as a first time / one time experience to try something new. And as I was telling some of my friends, if the missus / S.O. is willing, you can easily turn the event into a quick & romantic island getaway for a few days. The villa resort associated with the track has some eye-dropping views and awesome amenities. Victoria can also be an excellent place for a couple to hang out for a while. I am going to try to make it to the VIMC event in May, and I would very much like to go back to the Ridge with Kalson and TSS in June or July, but there are only so many free passes I can get / ask for before I get into trouble from my CEO... Sometimes, I really, really miss my single and carefree days... |

man you are a junkie |
First time at the Ridge personal best 1:55.59 slightly damp but forgot to record video. Rad ate a rock to the face and started bleeding coolant in my last session https://scontent-sea1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...e0&oe=594E9611 https://scontent-sea1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...70&oe=595DC60C Learned the track in hail and heavy rain |
I havent posted this before. But of one's mindset is just to goto a track to better one's self driving techniques. You can bring anything to the track and learn. |

I should add that in my very, very first autox, I had my a$$ handed to me by a Corolla one generation earlier than this. So there is really no excuse. If you are even just thinking about the possibility, you should give it a go and see how your like it. |
Was just looking up for some upcoming track days at Mission, and OMG... Didn't realize there are so many events happening now. Fri, May 19 w/ R&P Motorsports Fri, June 9 w/ R&P Motorsports Mon, June 12 w/ UBC Sports Car Club (UBCSCC) Fri, June 23 w/ Speed-Fanatics Wed, July 12 w/ UBCSCC Fri, July 14 w/ R&P Motorsports Mon, Aug 1 (BC Day) w/ Speed Fanatics Fri, Aug 11 w/ R&P Motorsports Mon, Aug 14 w/ VCMC Motorsport Club Mon, Aug 28 w/ Speed Fanatics Fri, Sept 15 w/ R&P Motorsports Sun, Sept 17 w/ UBCSCC Sat, Oct 7 w/ R&P Motorsports Sun, Oct 8 w/ R&P Motorsports Mon, Oct 9 (Thanksgiving Mon) w/ Speed Fanatics Sat, Nov 4 w/ Speed Fanatics And then there are probably other organizers running events that I am not aware of as well. I have no experience with R&P, so I can't comment on what their events are like. But I have done a lot of events with VCMC, UBCSCC, and Speed Fanatics, and they are always well run, even though each organizer carries a slightly different flavour. |
inb4 car2go and evo starts showing up at Mission |
After watching years of best motoring. I figure i give it a try at footwork camera :p . Let me know what you think |
Feels like I'm watching Hot version or something |
Visited Area 27 yesterday !! some picture of the lake outside the hotel. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b8...psafqggmaj.jpg Clear blue sky. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b8...ps38nljho2.jpg Couple of laps at Area 27 before my car battery crapped out on me :( |
Here's my session at Area 27. First ever track day in the ms3 after starting the addiction with autox last June. Lines could use improvement and I could've throttled waaay earlier given the k04 turbo lag. I've killed my 2 month old RE71Rs so now i'm looking for tires that can drive the 5 hours to Oliver + hold up at the track. Thinking Hankook RS4, Firestone Indy 500 (Bridgestone R003), Conti ECS, or PSS |

If you are looking for something that can last the drive to Oliver, hold up at the track, and still come back looking decent all on the same tire, I think the only qualified candidates are Hankook R-S4 and the Dunlop ZII Star Specs. But especially when you are in an MS3, it might make more sense to just pick up an extra set of track tires (NT01, R888R, etc.) and swap them on site. |
I run a dedicated wheel/tire set for track and I haven't looked back! |
First time tracking my STI, stock suspension and alignment but the Firestone Indy 500's did a pretty decent job IMO. Very different experience overall from all the other cars I've tracked, really have to use up the whole track and pray to god you don't understeer off haha. The differentials/awd system impressed me though, it can put the power down so well mid-corner. Can't wait to go back with some light brake upgrades and a better alignment to see what the car can really do. But out of the box I'm quite impressed. Afterwards in the pit, the Miata driver flipped out at me for honking at him, which I admit was unsportsmanlike but was only done as he just had zero awareness of what was going on behind him. He actually had the audacity to say that on a racetrack you're supposed to focus on what's going on in front of you and not what's behind you. Absolutely delusional driver who has no business signing up for anything aside from a novice group with a mandatory instructor IMO. After I mentioned this incident to a few friends, it seems that he has a bit of a rep for not pointing people by at Mission, even those that are almost 10 seconds a lap faster than him. From what I gather a few people have been pretty annoyed with his lack of track etiquette at UBCSCC events |
