That was the shittiest recording ever......the db is going off to the chart for any real sound comparison
Yeah, like a distorted to shit camera microphone is going to give a real good representation of what the exhaust actually sounds like. The later videos done with proper Mic's at proper levels sound a lot better.
Talk about bang for the buck - this heads straight to the front of the class. I'm thinking about 65k?
I think it'll probably run similar numbers to the GT500 given the weight disparity.
I don't think the GC will get this engine according to SRT's future plans...only the Charger. But you never know - the GC would be a beast and have the traction to put all the power down.

until someone gets their hands on one, i feel like this is just a massive dick measuring contest of hp and nobody really knows how it handles/feels on the road. i mean, look at the viper, its relevancy sorta died of pretty fast compared to the amount of hype it had
and with a massive fucking car like the challenger, unless they used a shitton of light weight materials and shed off a load of weight, i have high doubts that it could be considered competitively "light" even in the muscle car class

707 Horsepower is a phenomenal number to come with a warranty, but that's just one piece of the puzzle. regardless, 700+hp gets you going quickly. Really, really quickly. Does it have brakes that can adequately stop it? Is the suspension set up correctly, or is it just a wallowy mess of wheel spin? Are the tires a good match for the power?
I'd personally much rather have a very well sorted 400hp car, than a 707 horsepower mess.
new Vipers haven't been selling as well as they hoped... I guess the new challenger is a way to try to make up some of the losses from the Viper... I really feel that they under delivered with the new Viper... it was built to match the ZR1, which was a couple years old by the time the new Viper was released. Curious to see the real world performance numbers of the new Challenger... I wouldn't buy one just because they are boats though

I beg to differ.
Ever since Camaro ZL1(580hp) and Mustang GT500(662hp) came out, Challenger SRT8 became much less attractive with only 485hp.
Say Chrysler kept SRT-8's power the same and added extra features like suspension and brakes and whatnot, I can bet you pretty good money that it won't sell.
Japanese car manufactures tend to do that a lot, they add so much features and goodies on higher grade or special edition vehicles, and never add much horsepower. I'm glad that Nismo GT-R comes with 595hp, because Honda NSX Type-R only had 280hp and was a bit rip off in my perspective.
Veyron has 1001hp and nobody ever said it looked aggressive.
Veyron is ugly. It's cool because of the performance and the price tag that follows. Swap the engine and interior - throw on a Hyundai badge and no one would look at it twice.
