In the market for a BRZ So.. I'm looking for a BRZ sport-tech in satin white pearl, and in manual transmission. I'm just unsure whether or not I should buy, a 2013, 2014, or wait until the 2015 model is released? Should I purchase from a dealer, or private sale? The only private sale I was able to find was this: Subaru BRZ Sport Tech Manual 9000km His reason for sale was "garage space". Please help me out! Thank you |

That white BRZ craigslist seller is dreaming. MSRP for BRZ is $31490 after freight and fees. So you only save $3590 for a 2-year old car with 9000km and some mods. 2015 is coming out so they're going to have a sale on the 2014 usually $1k-1.5k. So you only save $2k-2.5k for that used one. So unless you really value the mods or you save tax by declaring a cheaper value (risk!) better off buying new. |
also the risk of buying used one is that a lot of people put 87 octane when 91+ octane is required...so there's more carbon built up in the engine. just saying.. |
if you're going to get a new one, i'd highly recommend picking one up asap. production has stopped on the 2014 as the 2015 are being manufactured from this point on. interest rates are low for leasing/ financing. if you wait for the 2015, I'm sure the interest rate will hike back up and you won't get much more to show for it. minor changes were made to the 2015. you can also look into the 2015 brz blue edition that will come with an sit package. things like aero/ lip kit, wheels, painted (yes painted..) brake callipers, blue stitched interior with blue leather accents. there will be zero performance modifications on this model. expect this model to be limited quantities and may not even be available in canada. USA will only get in 1,000 units. this model will come in a NEW white finish and world rally blue. i made the jump from a 2011 civic si to a 2014 brz last march and i couldn't be happier. if your looking for a light weight sports car with great handling, this is the car for you. if you're a hp junkie, look the other way.. best of luck on the decision! :) |
^ Scion will also have a "monogram" edition of the FRS that has similar upgrades to the BRZ's Blue Edition for a bit cheaper IIRC, it's roughly 30k before freight + fees, thinking about getting one myself:concentrate: |
Thank you for all your quick responses. I think I'm going to try to hop into a 2014 Sport-Tech model from your replies since the interest rates will be lower due to the production of 2015 models! It'll be tough to see my GSR go though... But I am certain I will be happier on the upgrade. |

they monogram was a limited production run for early 2014 and production has stopped. scion will be receiving the new 2014 scion frs 1.0 release series model. it will come in yellow only. on a positive note for the BRZ, the insurance worked out to be approx 400 cheaper annually when compared to the scion frs (at 40% insurance disc). go figure.. |
