If you put it in the gas tank; It wont smoke.

If you put it through a vacuum line; It will smoke up a storm.

Sort of applicable to this thread. Is there anyone here who works at a Honda dealer who would be able to look up a radio code for me?

TIA!

Just call Happy Honda, the Service Advisor looked it up via the radio S/N for FREE!!!

car starting to make a knocking sound from the back when i go over small bumps or turn sharply. thinking it might be the shocks?

twitchyzero 03-25-2015 10:33 PM

+1 i'm also getting light knocking noise (albeit the front) during sharp turns or turning on uneven road surface. How does a noob diagnose which suspension piece is worn? Only 107k

underscore 03-26-2015 06:47 AM

If you have a rear anti-sway bar check the bushings where it mounts to the chassis.

Looking at buying a portable air compressor to pump up tires. Anyone have any experience with VIAIR 88P vs the 90P?

I have the previous version of the 90...and works great...much faster fill time than my old cheap accuair emergency unit.

Clamping onto the battery seems a lot better than the ones that use the cig lighter, the first one of those that I had the plug got so hot it melted in the socket.

I've been having bit of a puzzling issue with my G35 coupe (2005, 6mt).

This started Monday after I pulled over to gas up. When I got back into my car to start it all lights came on as usual but when I turned the key to actually start the engine all that happened was it clicked once than all electrical power was lost.

A few minutes later a couple lights would come back in (but very dim) and the key remote can unlock/lock the car. I got a jump from someone and the car started up right away. I drove home (Vancouver - Coquitlam) fine.

The next morning, the same issue happened again. Turn key to start, click sound, all electric power lost. Jumping the car again started it immediately. After I got to work, I turned off my car and then started it again with no problems.

Leaving work yesterday I had no problems starting and made it home fine. When I got home I turned the car off but the issue happened again when I tried starting it.

I required another jump start today morning, but this afternoon the car started up perfectly fine after being parked for a few hours at work (I tried about 4-5 times in a row: start, run for a minute, turn off).

The battery is still fairly new (installed September last year) and there are no aftermarket stereo accessories.

A similar issue was happening last year but stopped until this week when the new battery was installed.

Anyone have any idea on what could be causing it?

Edit: Had no issues yesterday after getting a jump in the morning. Started up fine after work and when I got home. I installed a new battery just in case and will wait and see if the issue persists.

take off your sway bar and then go for a test drive, if noise is gone, you need endlinks and bushings.

i think..

underscore 03-26-2015 09:27 AM

^ don't need to remove it, just disconnect the endlinks and zip tie it out of the way.

Bad battery or bad ground from the sounds of it. Be careful as a bad battery can take out the alt as well.

Replaced the battery yesterday so I'll wait and see if it comes up again.

even if the noise appears to be coming from the front? I should mention it's pretty faint, I can only hear it when the music is off and it's still a pretty quiet knock

see.lai 03-26-2015 10:39 PM

there should be a front sway bar as well, unless im wrong.. haven't checked underneath there in a while lol

underscore 03-27-2015 03:13 PM

If the noise is from the front, check the front bar.

thumper 03-30-2015 04:40 AM

what would cause the negative battery terminal to corrode in a car? i've cleaned it once already and it's gone all green and furry again within only a few weeks... first time it's done this since new

blackGS? 03-30-2015 02:15 PM

^^^ make sure you clean it really thoroughly. Hot water and baking soda works well.
But you might have a battery acid leak?

thumper 03-30-2015 02:16 PM

leaking from the terminal?

Just bought knipex plier wrench and its worth the price. Replaces all the wrenches and pliers in my motorcycle tool kit.

Any advice or articles to help with setting my camshaft timing?

Constant creaking from rear suspension when going over speedbumps and larger bumps on the road.

Parts recently installed:

TEIN Street Basis coils
Skunk2 LCAs
rear adjustable camber arms
new sway bar end links
all new OEM bushings, gaskets, top mounts, etc. essentially every suspension part was replaced with new OEM parts

The coils were installed made no sounds at all until the first rain, and started making noises which progressively got worse developing into groans and duck-like quacking noises from the right rear. The shop regreased everything but that did not help at all. The shop then took apart the entire rear suspension and put it back together. The squeaking and groaning noises subsided entirely, and the creaking became very subdued, but the creaking is still there and it's been a week since the suspension was put back together, the creaking is getting progressively worse once again. Going over speedbumps and curbs especially makes my suspension sound like it's going to fall apart.

What could the shop be possibly doing incorrectly? Or is this just something typical of coils?

underscore 03-31-2015 07:37 AM

Sounds like a bushing, but I can't be sure, it's definitely not typical. Has the shop tried recreating the sound or are they turning wrenches without really knowing why?
